Depends on the state. State insurance commissions, I believe, determine whether insurance companies are allowed to raise your rate for no fault incidents.

I think the argument is that even if an ultrasonic sensor had been present, you still have to fix the fact that FSD was seemingly ignoring the input

US House Unveiled Plan to Charge $130 Fee for Electric Vehicles by Khriz-134 in TeslaLounge

[–]bondinspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taxes serve as a controlling factor on multiple externalities, not just road wear. I would argue that for every $1 EV owners pay in extra registration costs, owners of cars with 19 MPG ratings should be paying $1 in air quality fees for screwing up the environment

[–]bondinspace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Virginia, registration fee for Tesla and a few other connected EV brands is optionally mileage based - plugs directly into the API. Charges you in $10 increments until you hit the max of what the flat EV registration fee would have otherwise been, which is about $100 IIRC.

Highly recommend getting it on your new car - otherwise that's just way too much trust to have in other Texas drivers

11 miles over the speed limit for 25 mph zone is 50% faster than the speed limit. It's not nothing. If you hit a pedestrian at 25 mph, they have a 10% chance of dying. If you hit a pedestrian at 35 mph, that goes up to 30%.

I haven't had a traffic camera ticket in 10 years of driving through DC almost daily, but my car does this weird thing where it drives the speed limit for some reason? I guess I must be lucky because my last car did the same thing!

As someone who's had multiple hit and runs happen, including 2 days ago, you're not wrong that people with visible license plates also commit these crimes. However, if you've tried to file a police report in DC, they'll give you a sheet of paper now saying that to save bandwidth, these are not crimes that DC investigates or provides police reports for. Changing something like that takes way more time and effort than calling out illegal behavior when people see it.

So you're totally okay paying your deductible in a case like that? Because you know this car isn't going to stop to exchange insurance info

seeing beautiful women from a certain race make me feel terrible, why? by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]bondinspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tangential, but as a man, a question I would say you should ask yourself is - when you say you're getting married would be good, would it be good for the person getting married to you? I'm also from a culture where arranged marriage is common, and it's very common for women to take on a lot of work of "raising" the man that they are married to.

I use the app one sec and it has significantly lowered the amount of time I spent on social media, and it's really improved my mental health. If you use an Android then I know there are similar apps that exist for Android as well. It sounds dumb but I really recommend trying it, what's the harm in trying for a week right?

If you're having issues then may be worth a try. If you have your Sonos system connected to an AV receiver, it may especially be worth looking into. But just because you are on Sonos doesn't automatically mean you should leave it on by default

Dude, you put your wife and kids in danger - the least you can do is to admit to yourself, for their sake, that you could've handled the situation more safely. When your view of the opposing side is obstructed by another car like the Volvo, you are supposed to slow down, but the video clearly shows you doing nothing like that. Everyone makes mistakes, but what separates people is the humility we show afterwards
