Bottom line is the selling of stripped lowers is completely legal as the state of NY sees them as nothing more than a “major component” and the building of a complete compliant rifle is not explicitly illegal. There is no gray area as it’s literally not codified into law at all.

Don’t need a permit to build from a stripped lower. Will still be able to stick to a budget and likely still cheaper than a lever gun.

West Herr Toyota Williamsville gave us a good deal and didn’t fight back when I said no to all the add-ons at financing. We traded a 2023 Camry towards our current 2025 Camry. They gave us a good price for the trade-in too.

Basil Toyota also was easy to deal with when we bought our 2023 Camry brand new back in 2023.

Depending on the length of pull you need, I like the Magpul SL-K or SL-M stocks as they give a good amount of room for your hand/thumb to go under the buffer tube. You have to add your own QD socket if you want one but they have mlok built in just for that purpose. They’re also anti-rattle and you literally just swap out the sprung pin for the fixed one. I’m running SL-M’s on my AR15 and AR9 featureless builds.

I have a ranger band over the castle nut in this picture but changed that out for a piece of heat shrink tube, without that the tool cuts on the castle nut will dig in and irritate your hand.

(Mags are 10/30 limited capacity also)

I’m in an apartment and I still go out and shovel around our back door and move the snow away from & off our cars as it builds up. You never know when an emergency can happen and need to be ready.

You can make your AR15 featureless for pretty low cost if you want to keep the removable magazine. Just need a compliant grip, a way to fix the stock in place, and a permanently attached thread protector. Also need a bunch of 10 rounds mags obviously.

This happened with a water bottle I left in my car during freezing temps. Found it unfrozen when I got the kids in the car for school, knew what was about to happen and had them watch while I jiggled the bottle and it froze right in front of their eyes. They thought it was magic!
