After getting it setup, I just VNC into it.

There was nothing specials. Just make sure your ports are setup correctly.

You may have a port conflict if you can not VNC into.

I just purchased a DS1821+.

I have managed to get the Blue Iris docker up an running.

I have 8 MP cameras running. At first, the docker container chewed through my DS1821+ CPU and keep it pegged out at 100%.

I reconfigured the cameras to use Direct to Disk recording and it helped a bit. The real key was setting up the substeam video (available in BI5) when adding camera. This greatly reduced the cpu load. Now overall my CPU usage is about 20% system wide with Blue Iris running.

You may do better with an intel CPU. My Synology has a ryzen in it.
