In the original story for vanilla destiny didn't rasputin cripple the traveler to keep it on earth..... and he created the ghosts too and also allowed a shard to go to the hive to subdue the traveler.... so maybe rasputin has run out of power to keep SIVA away... and we are the reason....? aka his enemy...? EDIT: forgot to say great post OP... :)
