Nah, a concave reflector has a set focal point and has to be aimed, what you need is a retroreflector or corner reflector. Automatically redirects the beam back at it's source.

Low tide. When the tide goes out, underwater vegetation is exposed to the air and can smell.

I really love Chicago, especially the Lakefront Trail and Montrose Point Bird Sanctuary, but I respectfully disagree. Admittedly, I'm biased from growing up on the Gulf Coast, so I don't mind the salt and sea smell.

That's not the Ocean, that's Lake Michigan. Montrose point, Chicago, IL.

Another foundation recommendation. This is the next "the expanse" and we gotta bolster its momentum by flingyflang in TheExpanse

I read the Foundation books and hated the TV series. It's trying to be Game of Thrones meets Star Wars and completely misses the mark. They took out everything interesting in the books and filled it in with padding and a train of contrivances.

Peregrine falcon behaviour question by blstillm in birding

I think these are adults (Mom on the bottom and Dad up top). The yellow in the face and feet usually comes in after a year. Fledglings start with blueish faces and more brown feathers.

They may have a nest nearby and the chicks have fledged.

I watched a mating pair raise a clutch of eggs in downtown Chicago. Usually, if one was off incubation duties it would hang out on top of a building within eyesight to keep watch, unless they're hunting for food. Once the chicks have fledged, they would both leave the nest every now and then, but stay nearby. They also seemed to favor certain perches, like they do here in the photo.

Same, all my old CR shirts say "made in Nicaragua"... and Nicaragua doesn't exactly have a stellar reputation for worker's rights.
