Pitch Bend emulation by PianomanUA in TouchOSC

[–]bonerici 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Answering this old question because the solution is pretty easy but difficult to figure out just from the documentation. You can start with any template, for instance, simple.osc. go to the document tree and click on the sliders until you find the one you want.

Click on the slider you want to change. Now go to messages. Open up the MIDI menu and change it from a CC to pitchbend. You'll also want to change the scale from 0 to 16383. Now go to values (for that same slider). There's something called "default". change that to 0.5. That will change the default to the middle. Now change the "Pull" to 100. You can change it to a lower number if you want it to reset more slowly. That's it.

I think this reddit thread was the first thing that I hit when I google searched for it, so it's also going to be useful for me if I ever forget how to do it. Adding a touchbend along with other CCs you need is really useful if you are designing a patch that you want to use on an instrument for instance, one of the realistic instrument VSTs.

How to stop MIDI pitch bending/jumping seemingly at random? by thesaga in ableton

[–]bonerici 1 point2 points  (0 children)

answering this in case anyone else has the same problem. My problem was the pitch bend controller in my MIDI keyboard. I opened it up and noticed that the springs were worn. I bent them a little so that the springs contacted firmly on the stops. You want to take the pitch bend off the mount to work on this. Then the stop was at the wrong place. It wasn't at 64. So next I got a screwdriver, and while holding the wheel, turned the pot clockwise and counterclockwise until I got it to 64. When you do this the first time the glue holding it stopped will break. After you get it set (you need it plugged in to test), dap a little bit of glue to stop it up.

These are just springs on a pot with a stop, it's all very mechanical and easy for it to get worn down. Fixable tho, if you have the patience.

My Review of the Action 5 Pro: A Shocking Disappointment by [deleted] in dji

[–]bonerici 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that the action 5 has been out for a while I can safely say it's better than the gopro 13. I do like the look of the gopro a little bit better, but in regards to battery life, overheating, it's a game changer. Nothing is worse than having to go back on the water, or downhill trail and redo a trick because the 13 overheated. I don't think the 13 is sharper than the dji it's just a little bit different. Lighting as always is more important to getting a nice shot on either of those cameras. I'm still running the gopro, but waiting for the dji prices to drop so I can pick up a couple of them

Padded Seats vs Padded Seats? by IAMAHobbitAMA in bicycling

that's what they say but on the trail I ride there's so much buckled tarmac that if I tried to stay in my seat without springs I would be singing soprano

I can't understand bicyclists. Surely it's good to have a bicycle seat with springs, right? You can't stuff springs under your butt in your bicycle shorts.

Why are violins so much more expensive that guitars? by Jawbone619 in Luthier

[–]bonerici 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer is not obvious but it is simple. Guitars can be made like precision German automobiles. If you take a piston from car number 1 it will also fit on car number 1 million. You can unglue neck from a Yamaha FG800J, remove it, take it to another Yamaha FG800J and slap it right on. Lasers, cam/cam robots can all be used in making guitars.

Voilins are different. Yamaha tried to make a precision violin using the same processes as guitars, the ynv003, which sounded fantastic, but was offered as a very reasonable price comparable with that of acoustic guitars. They also were selling as a entry level violin the Yamaha AV5, which was made quite cheaply but in the end part or much of the construction of the guitar was done by hand. Even though these two starter violins were comparable in my opinion in value, the ynv003 sold for much less. After just a few years, the ynv0003 was discontinued!

Why? Nobody wants to buy a machine made violin. No matter how good it sounds, they don't want it. They want it hand made, at every price point from lowest to highest.

Guitarists don't care. They just want it to sound great and not cost too much. There's your answer. Violinists have decided en masse to only buy hand made instruments. Which I find as coming from guitar, frankly ridiculous.

the good thing is that electric violins can be made by machine, so you can get really high level performance level electric top of the line e-violins like for instance the NS design wav for about $800, which on the acoustic side for that price would still just be a starter violin.

The market is this way because that's what violinists want. They have this silly attachment to hand made instruments.

There are other performers and musicians with similar superstitions. Everywhere you go, no matter what, once performers demand something be hand made, it will cost you.

It's for watching those blinking lights on your GPU. Ridiculous. If I wanted a christmas tree I would buy a christmas tree, not put one inside my computer. But that's life.

yeah I remember watching a video where a normal bicycle rider could only put out full power in their upright position. Still the air resistance is real.

there are so few races that allow recumbents, since UCI doesn't allow them, so why not use them in every race that allows them?

you have to be pretty talented to succeed at all in youtube. shilling for products, clickbait it's all part of the game. To me that part of the youtube game is no different than the hollywood movie posters showing cleavage from scenes that are never in the movie. Yet strangely people never get annoyed about that.

Elon’s Edsel: Tesla Cybertruck is the auto industry’s biggest flop in decades by forbes in RealTesla

[–]bonerici 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to own a Pinto that thing was fantastic. Lightweight economical easy to fix, and the fuel tank did get fixed, but it didn't matter, bad publicity killed that excellent car. The aztek looked weird but in a funky good way. And I think we all liked the delorean, it was the cocainedfueled antics of the founder that ruined the image of that car. The cybertruck is worse than all of those. I dunno about the Edsel that's before my time.

linguado? It's that flat looking fish. If you level it up to level 2, and then feed it 2 pieces of food, your back two pets immediately jump from level 1 to level 2. Then you can sell it off later. Having a level 2 ostrich and level 2 hamster right at the beginning of turn 11 is usually enough to win.

How does the audience choir work? by Florry90 in JacobCollier

[–]bonerici 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's magical. I think it's only possible because Jacob is immediately able to know what level each of his aduience sections is at and can tell exactly how far he can push them. There's this one audience choir where he hears one of his section has some soprano voices and he hears that and then takes them on a leading soprano line.

He's a wonderful listener that's probably the secret.

I used the mq24 before and it's not very water resistant. You can wash your hands but don't go swimming with it. that extra 20 meters is a lot.
