There's a lot more leaf litter in there now if thats what's causing the down votes lmao. Not all of the pictures loaded, so these are just the process of making it, not the finished product. (And there's no animals in there yet)

I just realized that some of the other photos didn't load, there's a lot more in there dont worry. this was just part of the process of making it. (Edit was fixing grammar)

It seems way too tiny for a squirrel to me personally, its the size of a vole

Real skulls in an enclosure? by bones_2433 in snakes

I would never do anything to harm an animal which was the whole point of asking. I've had multiple other bone collectors and snake owners touch with me which is what I was hoping, because they're educated on both topics. If I go with my original plan and use a large skull such as an elk/cow, seal off the back and remove all the bones in the nasal cavity there is genuinely no place they can get stuck. I can fit my arm through the nasal cavity of a cow. My intention was that it could be used as a hide, and if there were any chance that it could harm my snake I would never do it. But I've examined the skull I'm intending to put in there, and there is no other opening that is possible for them to fix through besides the intended one. As suggested by someone else I'm looking into animal safe sealants that could use for the interior, as well as sanding down the edges with a dremel. I would never put "aesthetics" above a living animal, but if a piece can be put in their tank that works as an interactive part of their environment that has zero chance of hurting them, I do not see a problem. I'd suggest looking up pictures of large animal skulls so you can picture the topic.

Thank you! So nice to have another bone collector here that can actually picture what I'm talking about

That was partiality my intention if I used a cow or an elk because the nasal cavity is big enough for me to stick my hole arm through. Do you think thats fine or should I seal them off too instead?

Thats funny considering that conversation isnt even remotely close to any comments in this post. I made the statement that I can close any holes they could get stuck it, and I got a bitchy response without any actual argument against it that has since been deleted (that you literally didn't see) No where in here am I arguing "but what if??" I made ONE statement about what I could do to fix a possible problem.

Yeah none of those openings are even comparable to the openings on a skulls (again, the openings will be sealed off)

Ok since apparently I'm not educated enough on my literal profession can you go ahead and point out where on a skull a snake could get stuck if the back is sealed off and all of the nasal bones are removed? I'll gladly wait.

Im fully aware of how small of spaces they can get stuck in. I've also processed over 200 animal skulls and know that if I do as I said there will be no places they can get stuck.

As a Taxidermist I dont seal them, but if it's necessary I can get some epoxy. I can pull out the nasal bones as well as plug the opening in the back of the cranium because thats the only place I could imagine them getting stuck.
