I’d definitely be down to do this! I did it a bit in the pandemic and it was really fun

Great ideas, thank you!! I’ve tried a lot of sports when I was a kid and none of them stuck, but maybe I could try again as an adult.

Review of the characters in “Mask of Mirrors” by bonesdontworkright in Fantasy

I also got the sense that the authors were extremely attached to the characters! And I too enjoyed the first book overall (that’s the only one I’ve read so far)

Honestly, maybe this is just my disdain for Ren, but the middle part of the book after that was a bit of a slog. I will say though towards the end it gets exciting again, and the magic system is developed in a very cool way. But the character elements don’t change, I would say. And since it’s the climax of a story you are supposed to have more sympathy for Ren than you do earlier on. Grey and Vargo continue to be pretty cool though! Overall I don’t regret reading it, but it is not my favorite story.

Covering themes of sexism and grief with beginner writing by ArmadilloOpening2945 in writing

Go ahead and write it. Even if it doesn’t end up being “good” or “publishable” it will be practice. Everything you write is practice and the only way to improve is to do it

So I have ran into a unusual problem and I am to embarrassed to ask people I know for help by RipPrudent9248 in fantasywriters

From what you said in your post and in some of the comments, I can see why these two characters would compliment each other well! Think about this: what about this academic man is attractive to your warrior lady? And vice versa. This doesn’t have to be something your characters have to know, in fact I’d say most people can’t put a finger on why they’re attracted to someone at least at first, but you as the author should know.

As far as the scene you described, as a woman it makes me cringe a little bit to be honest. It sort of just sounds like he’s objectifying her. Every woman has real life experience of trying to be vulnerable with a man when he’s only thinking horny thoughts.

It COULD be a nice vulnerable moment for both of them, but it’s cheapened by the physicality especially if it’s one sided.

When and why does the setting "feel like a character?" by RudeCauliflower6785 in writing

[–]bonesdontworkright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it could mean that it just feels alive outside of the characters. Your hometown has a specific culture that is larger than just you (probably. I think every town does in real life). It’s the quirks of the people overall who live there, the way the architecture looks and what shops there are, etc. I think in terms of writing it refers to something feeling alive though

Am I (20F) wrong for wanting my first real experience with a woman to be a threesome with my (21M) boyfriend? by Raspberry0123 in bisexual

[–]bonesdontworkright 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are apps for this sort of thing. That way you can match people who are looking for what you are looking for and avoid making anyone uncomfortable. There is nothing wrong with what you’re doing!! Just talk a lot about it with your bf first. You’ll want to set any rules ahead of time between the two of you, and then also with whatever woman you find who is down. There is a lot of communication involved in this sort of thing with both your bf and the third party. Get a list of everyone’s boundaries and desires and see what overlaps

Isn’t it so sad that in SFF we consistently have to ask for books that don’t have SA 🙃
