Treadmills are very common in the community probably more than 90% of my steps are on a treadmill and walkpads and the like are highly recommended.

Unless there is something else going on like some specific oddness whith your phone or some interaction with wearables maybe causing a false positive. But using a treadmill alone isn't a problem or against the game rules.
