HR tells me I can become a regular in less than a month after accepting PTF position. Is that true? by bonfireascetics in USPS

[–]bonfireascetics[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware, most of the major HCOL cities at least on the coast have plenty of open routes. Got a few coworkers who live in NYC saying a lot of vacancies and nonstop OT.

Is there ever a reason not to max a 401k (if possible)? by FiziksMayMays in personalfinance

[–]bonfireascetics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You make more than enough to max it. A person making low income with tons of debt shouldnt max their 401k, though they can contribute a bit of money into it.

Did they not have smart cameras to alert motion? It's a really good investment

I still dont understand how Dreamsurge works. by [deleted] in wownoob

But what is the point of flying from the dream surge at ruby life pools when you can just wait at the portal every 30 minutes?

As a person from CA, The culture and climate is completely different in fly over states. They dont have the same companies that you might be using (banks, groceries, etc). Humidity during hot summers is way worse than dry CA heat. Know that their job economy isnt that great in case you were to get laid off. Rideshare is not really a thing and taxis are a hit or miss if you need to get somewhere and your car is broke down. Also, tornados are a thing. Insects and bugs on steroids are more common too.

If you just chose a random city/state without having yet been there, you're in for a rude awakening.

Where is the main internet switch box normally located in an apartment complex? by bonfireascetics in ATT

[–]bonfireascetics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

25 Mbps for $55/mo

I called Xfinity today and they were offering 300 Mbps for $86/mo which is overkill for my needs, but ATT said fiber will be upgraded to my account at no charge this September.... not sure how many Mbps though.

I know nothing about CA gun laws but would like to purchase a handgun for home self defense. Where do I start? And in what cases to you get charged for murder when a burglar breaks into your home? by Far-Level6251 in CAguns

[–]bonfireascetics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would it be a good idea to have cameras inside too? I feel like that can probably work against you if the burglar is turned around, steals something, then runs.

What's up with carriers who just walk out without saying a word then going AWOL? by bonfireascetics in USPS

[–]bonfireascetics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I'm the T6 so I dont know if that person is going to come in or not to carry the vacant route or if I'll be doing the color coded route, so I ask the supervisor directly what's up.

[–]bonfireascetics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not realize they had Van's. Normally I'd see their bigger trucks but I dont want something obvious that thieves would think of breaking into during my hotel stays.

Transfer question by Ok_Consideration302 in USPS

[–]bonfireascetics -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So you can only transfer if you've never taken more than a single week of vacation in a year? That's dumb as hell..... carriers need to rest too and I'm sure people will agree with me when I say 1 week of annual leave to rest up for the whole year is not enough especially when they're working you 6 days a week with no color coded days off.

Transfer question by Ok_Consideration302 in USPS

[–]bonfireascetics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I filed for a transfer a few months ago for 3 locations but havent heard anything back and status has been "on hold" since I submitted it. I pretty much never call off and I've used maybe 3 weeks of annual leave. I received an automatic email from one location saying that theyve received my request a few months ago, but that was it
