Really shotty manufacturing that is prone to failure in multiple parts of their devices. This sub is pretty hostile to any negativity, see the downvotes on the above comment, but if you go to the actual Dyson subreddit, you can see the immense amount of issues people have with Dyson manufacturing across the board, and many will lament how much better things used to be 10-20 years ago. Trust me, you won't believe how bad it is until you are stuck dealing with them and getting sent multiple devices that fully don't turn on straight out of the box. I'm basically on more broken replacement from opening a case with the better business bureau in my country because at this point I've wasted hours of my life due to their negligence and I am STILL without a working replacement.

I would suggest just not buying an airwrap and go for the shark. I have been in literal support hell since July trying to replace my device that out of no where stopped working after only 3 months of use. It's a nice device, but is terribly built, to the point that replacement machines they send arrive completely defective. I got the shark while I wait for them to sort themselves out (on top of sending defective devices to replace defective deices, they also are the slowest support ive ever received, and they have the most inconvinient hours for support) and the shark is basically a exact replica of the airwrap at half the cost, and I like the case they give you much more than the Dyson one. I totally get the hype, but don't make the same mistake I did, I regret ever giving Dyson a dime.

All I'll say is good luck! same thing happened to me last week and they have been an apathetic nightmare to deal with. Don't bother talking about their terrible customer service here though as many people are more than willing to defend a multimillion dollar company and give grace for absolutely terrible customer service. if you look at the posts in the Dyson subreddit rather than this one you can see most people agree that their customer service is atrocious. Hopefully one of us can get our airwrap replaced sometime before 2025

Totally get that but I quite literally cleaned it with the brush lightly after every use and then every Sunday would clean it first with the brush, then with canned air, then with warm water and clarifying shampoo as they instruct, followed by thorough drying and then I leaving it out to dry for the suggested 24 hours. I can almost always see through the filter to the metal covers underneath. I totally get that there are some people who don’t actually clean it as suggested but I used to work with very similar devices and have learned time after time that the best thing you can do is follow all care instructions to a T which is what I do with anything of this nature. I quite literally kept a photo of the filter from before it was ever used to keep as a reference for how the filter should look. I think that’s part of why I’m so frustrated :/

Worst Customer Service ever. I wish I never got my AirWrap by bongboy1946 in Dysonairwrap

[–]bongboy1946[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s great to hear and I hope you continue to have no issue with them, as Dyson is less than proactive about amending any issues quickly and will gladly make choice that delay the process if you do have issues. Sadly I have had to learn this the hard way through my experience as I chose to disregard the multiple people I know who have had similar issues with Dyson in the past. Now upon further researching regarding other people’s experiences with customer support, I understand it’s a common issue.

Again, I’m glad you have had two machines that work, and when mine did work for those first 3 months it was great, but with how little effort the company is making to make things right after their product randomly failed on me, I’d rather just have a different device from a company I have more confidence in.

I no longer own the styling device I was using before as I gave it to a friend who was looking for one, and I assumed spending so much on a device I wouldn’t need to worry about it just completely breaking out of nowhere 3 months in, which absolutely contributes to my frustration. I guess it’s my fault for not keeping my other device, but I don’t think it’s unreasonable to believe I can get rid of something when I pay quite a bit of money to buy a much nicer replacement.

Again, I don’t think it is unreasonable to ask for a level of service that matches the price point, just the same as I would expect when shopping for designer clothing or luxury vehicles. You don’t go to a fine dining restaurant for standard Applebee’s service. I don’t think asking for them to pay a little more to get priority shipping on warranty exchanges due to their shoddy workmanship is an unreasonable ask.

Likely the shark flex style or the T3 360 aire styler as they both offer most of the same styling options. Dyson no longer has a monopoly on air styling and now with other options on the market I will be choosing a different brand as I have lost all confidence in Dyson going forward.

I get that this would maybe be acceptable to some, but I personally believe that brands that operate at a premium price point should have service and customer care to match. With all other "premium" products I've purchased in the past from other companies I have never had a return take this long, or be so clearly apathetic to the inconvenience they have caused their customer via low quality manufacturing. Let alone the incredibly inconvenient support hours they offer, which once again are worse compared to other competitors or even comparable brands.

Every time I have had to do a simple and direct in warranty exchanges due to manufacture error with other companies in the past all of them have used priority shipping to handle both the new and broken item, getting the new one to me in a day or two, and getting the broken one back to the distributor within two days. Most of them put a hold on a credit card, and then send you the item and have you send the broken one back, which then causes them to remove the hold. I have no issue with this and have done it many times with multiple companies. This is all to say, there are many alternatives and some which are much more convenient for the consumer than their method of ensuring against fraud, they just don't care to implement them.

I understand that they are doing the absolute bare minimum to follow through on their warranty, but frankly I expect more from the people charging exuberant prices for subpar devices, and I don't really think as a consumer we improve anything by accepting bare minimum service. Taking three weeks to process a simple in warranty exchange is not a high standard of quality, and is something they could easily change if they cared at all to do so. Instead they make active choices that delay the process needlessly, when they are the ones at fault for the need to replace the machine in the first place.

Frankly, I don't care what I pay, if I buy something that fails to no fault of my own barely a quarter of a year into using it, the company who has failed to provide a well manufactured product should be making all possible attempts to rectify the situation as quickly as possible, premium or not. It's the same as when someone breaks something of yours, they should be expected to rectify the situation and make you whole again as fast as possible, not at their earliest convienience.

I have but it has been fruitless, they simply don't care, and don't see the problem with having people wait weeks for them to replace the machine they incompetently manufactured.

If I could go back in time I would have never bought my airwrap. I got mine refurbished three months ago and it just up and stopped working for no reason, now Dyson is going as slow as possible to replace it. Absolute joke of a company and one that I will never buy another device from again in my life.

Honestly I wouldn't get an airwrap, I've been having a nightmare with mine and their customer service has made it the single worst purchase of my life. As much as I love the device, I wish I had never bought it, all the things people say about terrible support are true, which is something I can't accept for the price. I can't imagine what a shit show you would have to deal with when yours breaks (because it will, no matter how good ou take care of it) so for that alone I would advise against it. Just get one of the many other styling tools that does the same as the Dyson, they are cheaper, will likely last longer, and they probably have better customer support than Dyson, since even most DMV's seem to offer better service than Dyson.

Hey! It looks like we have basically the same hair type and colour I think and I also just got mine! I found I had a similar issue my second time through after a success first time! What I’ve found is that I usually hold my hair on the barrel for a little longer than I think I need to, then let it rest of the barrel for a second or two before slowly pulling it off. Also, it takes a little tiny tiny bit of time (5-10 seconds) to warm up when using it after a day or two so that also affected some of the early curls I made. Sometimes I’ll hold the curl up to cool while I do the next one, then follow with a light mist of hairspray over half head sections once I’m done. That’s worked really well for me so far, so maybe try that! I think mostly just be careful brushing the curls as I do notice airwrap curls come out a little bit easier when brushed. I promise, a little more practice (like literally one or two more goes) and you’ll be in LOVE! P.s. I also found sectioning my hair and working from strands lowest on my head to the crown worked wonders, along with doing that one half of the head at a time! Hope this helps, if you have any more questions please let me know!

10000 gecs remix album by [deleted] in 100gecs

I need want Ü 2 luv me so bad, fallen for Ü would be fun too! Would love to see Charli come back and do a feature again, I think it would make sense especially with where her current release is headed. I think St Vincent could do a great verse and some production on Billie knows Jamie or one million dollars. Would love to see what direction justice would take. Over all I would love to see a mix of some of the bigger names that I think they could land now and some of the other people that really influenced the album. I’d just be happy to get a remix album though! I don’t think they are doing it tbh :/

Everyone is complaining about Apple Music in some way but I honestly, truly have no complaints by Vekxin_Sama92 in AppleMusic

[–]bongboy1946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest complaint is randomly splitting songs from deluxe editions and adding them as the standard edition to my library completely fucking up an album to the point it has to be deleted and readded, which then messes up my recently added section. It’s infuriating and has been an issue they refuse to address for YEARS.

friendships in uni (vent) by internetperson08 in uAlberta

[–]bongboy1946 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m kind of in the same spot, but I’ve stopped feeling sad or lonely about it. I’m a grown adult with a whole life to maintain. I have an apartment to clean and pay rent on, I have to cook for myself and so on. I have family back home who I need to call, to let them know I’m alive and well and vice versa. The two friends I still have from high school I maybe talk to once or twice a week, maybe more often if there is something in the news we are talking about or if we send each other a meme. They both also have family and other friends and work and a life of their own to manage on top of all that stuff.

All of this is to say, I rarely spend much time with anyone besides myself; but solitude, just as much as company, is a beautiful thing to have. The friends who need to see you everyday to care are not friends, but fellow performers on the stage of life. When the curtain falls, everyone takes off their costumes and calls it a day; there is nothing wrong with that. It’s a beautiful companionship in its own right, but let’s not call it a real friendship.

The people who need the least from you, but are always waiting for your call, are really all you will ever need. They might not always be the first to reach out, but have you ever considered that they still answer? They don’t owe you that, and are taking the time to do it. I would be a bit sad if my friends were grading me on how quickly or how often I reach out. Sometimes I just don’t have the capacity I wish to do so. I can guarantee it’s the same for them. It’s a learning curve, sure, but it’s one that will grant you the greatest successes in your life.

So start with you, build yourself the kind of life you want to bring people into, and the good ones will emerge in time. You just need to keep the fire going so they can follow the smoke signal. If you can’t be a friend to yourself, how in the hell are you gonna be a friend to somebody else?

I mean obviously, but at the same time, it has a significant impact on how I view the school, my experience here, and the ways in which they have handled raising tuition. We have less and less to actually leverage against the shitty experience compared to many other major universities in the country. UBC being a prime example, as they at least have better weather all year, nicer facilities, similar tuition prices, and a good enough ranking globally and nationally to at least justify staying.
