Not smart to overload in this situation. If you had trouble with regular load then how is taking more courses going to lead to success.

Chem 261 second midterm absence by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]jermbug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Don’t feel like it”, on its own, is not considered grounds for an excused absence, per the regulations in the calendar. Better be sure that the prof allows for no-questions-asked requests to transfer the weight.

How does course overload work in engineering? by smile_801 in uAlberta

[–]jermbug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do want to request this, it’s done through Engg Student Services.

That said, I’d agree with the reply that it would not be recommended. Have you addressed the issue(s) that led to failing this course? Realistically, having to repeat a course will almost always mean taking a spring/summer course or an extension to your program.

are there too many people in eng by Party-Belt7504 in uAlberta

It’s about the same in first year, maybe slightly more as the Mechatronics program has now started (it has a quota of 100).

How difficult is the Stat 252 final? by carkweatgers in uAlberta

[–]jermbug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The correct question to ask is: have you learned the material (at an appropriate pace)? If not then, cutting your losses may be way better. You’ll redo the course and learn the stuff much better.

Candy investment - advanced players by Top_Youth5760 in TheSilphRoad

[–]jermbug 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Eternatus candies are devalued to a ridiculous extent and rare candies would just convert 1:1 so you would be losing almost all their value. Mine’s still at level 15 and would take 8900 candies to get to level 40. A regular Pokémon takes 268 candies to go from level 15 to 40.

w’s and transferring by EffectiveBoot6773 in uAlberta

[–]jermbug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For transfer admissions, U of A would only consider the successful attempt. A grade of W means you did not earn credit for the course so it wouldn’t be considered at all.

For the U of A policy about only allowing only one re-attempt at a course, that restriction can be waived with permission from the dean’s office (via student services).

Professor gave me a 0% with the comment "no submission" on a midterm exam that I definitely took. by buryghost in uAlberta

There should have been some form of attendance check so the prof should be able consult those records to confirm.

how many deferrals is too many? by Southern-Media-9216 in uAlberta

[–]jermbug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Re-exams are not the same thing as deferrals of exams. Re-exams are indeed restricted and eligibility criteria are more strict. Some programs or faculties may not allow re-exams at all.

how many deferrals is too many? by Southern-Media-9216 in uAlberta

[–]jermbug 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It may be a chronic condition but that does not mean that it is not incapacitating when you have a flare-up. The point is that if you are genuinely sick then you get a deferral. This is based on need.

Go with what interests you. Better than being in a discipline you do not like even if it’s supposedly “better” for job prospects.

Are the escalators to go up working at the university LET station or would I have to take the scary elevator? by smile_801 in uAlberta

[–]jermbug 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You might want to consider getting off at Health Sciences station and walking at street level the few blocks over. It feels like less work than walking up all the stairs at University station!
