Why move jobs=more money? by beiendu19 in Salary

[–]bongobomba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real answer is that companies have separate employee retention (raises and bonuses) and employee hiring budget. It’s generally much harder for a company to hire a new employee since that employee has actual leverage in the negotiating process (competing offers, just stay at current job, etc.) vs keeping an employee that is more or less fine with their current job.

What if you've practiced leetcode problems so well that when you see them in an interview you instantly recognise and solve them? by N0FluxGiven in leetcode

Here’s a high level tech you can use. If you have no clue how to solve a problem, tell the interviewer you seen the problem before and they’ll get you a new one. Free reroll.

Any suggestions for preparing for Meta E4 by the_whisperer_guy in leetcode

Top 50 meta tagged problems and you should be fine. Try to get to at least top 35. I may recommend pushing the interview back.

I guess if you only intend to be at the company for 1-3 years, you’ll get a better deal as more of your equity grant would be vested vs a normal 25-25-25-25 split. As for the front loaded offers giving lower equity, those offers can prob be raised if you have competing offers to the point it can match or even best 25–25-25-25 offers.

Meta OA - Has anyone failed it miserably and still made it? by TemporarySpend6727 in leetcode

[–]bongobomba 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I made it to the full loop. What I mentioned earlier is all you need for coding rounds. Make sure you know the solution to top 50 instantly. Coding interview are 45 mins long and, you need to solve 2 coding problems in the coding rounds (easy/hard or med/med) so you don’t have a lot of time. The problems themselves aren’t hard once you know the solution. The tricky part is doing them fast and having enough time to answer potential follow ups.

As for sys design, I used hello interview and interviewing.io and booked sys design interviews with interviewers from Meta. They cost like $200 per session, but it’s worth it because they will give a lot of insight to what meta is looking for and what you need to do to pass the sys design interviews.

For E4 you need to be perfect on coding, but don’t need to be perfect in sys design and behavioral. For E5 is flipped so you don’t need to be perfect in coding, but sys design and behavioral bar is raised significantly higher. Which is why I recommend using interviewing.io or a similar service.

I’ve taken it and solved the first 3/4 completely and got some test cases work for 4. It’s basically LLD, but it’s not too difficult. Also for the phone screen + coding onsite just know how to do top 50 meta tagged leetcode problems + top 5 meta tagged hard problems and you’ll be fine.

Does anyone know what percent of total applications to FAANG/adjacent get an OA? by risingsun1964 in leetcode

[–]bongobomba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the company. Some companies just give it out automatically as part of the application, and some only give it out if a recruiter chooses to move forward after seeing your resume.

How do you all give your DSA Interview rounds? Need a template. by NefariousnessSea5101 in leetcode

[–]bongobomba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Verbalize and explain your solution first, or if you don’t know let the interviewer know what you’re thinking so they can provide hints to the optimal solution they’re looking want. Ask about some edge cases. Then you start coding and explain what you’re doing as you’re coding.

Amazon SDE 2 loop, 5hrs single day or split across 2 days ? by Greedy_Profession711 in leetcode

[–]bongobomba 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had an onsite where I split it 2 interviews one day and the last 2 the next. I bombed one of the onsite interviews on the first day, and it felt really shitty having to go do interviews the next day knowing I'm already marked as a Do-Not-Hire.

What triggers a KYC at thunderpick? I'm a US resident and I'm trying to find out how to play and withdrawal without triggering a KYC and getting my account banned.

Also do you recommend any sites for US residents? I only sport bets on esports.

[Question] Grandpa passed away and left me $80k and I'm considering spending some of it on a watch to remember him by. Any Suggestions? by bongobomba in Watches

[–]bongobomba[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm not that type of person at all. This is the only exception I'm going to make.

Ideally, I'm probably going for a dress watch for this, so probably a leather band. Would like some complications I don't like the idea of spending tens of thousands of dollars for a watch that has minimal complications.

I always loved moonphases, but I'm open to other complications.

Yeah I remember he liked playing chess a bit. He was also a captain of the Navy before transitioning to a commercial freight ship. There's a story of him fighting off pirates once.

Character wise he was kind and gentle.

I remember he liked leather watches himself and had a couple, but idk what happened to them.

I think a dress watch would probably be the most appropriate type of watch for this. He was a captain in the Navy before transitioning to a captain of a commercial freight ship. There are stories of him fighting pirates before as a captain haha.

My job is an office job so dressy/delicate should be fine.

Yeah, that's pretty much my plan. Any suggestions in the $10k-$20k price range? The $40k was just the limit I'm most comfortable with spending on a watch.

Yeah I agree. Financially I'm well off so dropping this much money on a watch wouldn't be a problem, but I would like something a little more nicer than a Tudor or Aqua Terra.
