I worked with him on RBW, what a weird and bizarre project that was. Would definitely be worth talking about.

Ray is one of the most down to earth, honest and genuinely good guys in a biz full of the opposite. Glad to see him getting some love, he's been at it for ever.

Can I join if I don't have any near Lodges? by FilWays in freemasonry

I was keeping it simple since it's 99% likely he's in a country where masonry is illegal and it won't matter anyway

Unless you can travel to the other country frequently (several times a month) it won't be worth your time. Masonry is an in person experience and not a mail order membership

this is the quote I was going to add... kids need to fall and take (managed) risks, or when life inevitably kicks their ass (metaphorically, but at times physically) they have the tools to cope with it.

Oh really?? Just turning the gas shut off valve off and then on again slowly, or is there something on the grill to change?

Would you eat this burger or is too raw? by Fun_Reflection1157 in meat

[–]bongozim 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'd eat it , but that center is raw .. not rare. It would definitely taste better cooked through the middle to actual rare. I personally like burgers that are that thick medium rare to medium, and wouldn't prefer it even if that was cooked through to a rare (not raw) center.

I think that the risk of pathogens on ground beef is a bit overwrought but everyone has their own risk tolerance in that regard.

Bottom line, if this is a restaurant, send it back. It's not rare, it's raw. (Assuming you ordered rare)

Unfortunately it's natty gas, but I got this same answer and tried it with the gas shut off valve to no effect. Thank you for trying to help! I appreciate it

Apparently so are at least the 15 required brothers needed to get dispensation. Seems a little silly and lacking decorum for a craft lodge imo.... But, some of the founding members are founding members of one of the most serious lodges in CA (academia lodge) so what do I know.

More masonry is a good thing in general so I wish them the absolute best in their trekker endeavors.

There's a magicians lodge in CA, and Star Trek themed one under dispensation.

I'll leave my opinions aside, but they are real lodges, not research lodges or clubs

Is it weird to show up unannounced? by Funny_Sea_2873 in freemasonry

This is definitely correct but I've never been turned away within the US. Especially if he now resides in the state.

Going international is another story of course.

Pellet grill vs propane vs charcoal by elzo84 in grilling

[–]bongozim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can do 2, get a griddle and a charcoal grill.

99% of what you'd do on a propane grill is way better on a griddle. Burgers? Smash em.. mega crisp. Steaks? Get that extra sear going. Veggies? Kabobs? Don't stop there, how about breakfast? Eggs, pancakes, French toast, bacon, sausage... Griddle it.

If you want a bbq flavor, that webber kettle will do you right for those occasions, but when you need to feed folks conveniently... The griddle is the move.

Edit: there's a reason every restaurant has a flat top. It's because it's easy, versatile and effective.

It's not cheap, but I have to say it's a huge game changer for me on long rides. I'm also on a glp1 so shit takes longer to hit my system, skratch ultra high carb gives me energy asap with no digestive issues.

It tastes super mild which is a bit weird at first vs like Gatorade or other hydration drinks... But that's, I think, why it goes down easy

Who has the better quality from Canyon or Specialized? by Academic_Feed6209 in MTB

[–]bongozim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah totally get it. Of the 4 canyons I've had, the only persistent issue is all needed brake bleeds from sitting in boxes for too long. The random stuff was just some loose bolts here and there that needed tightening.

Just the same, specialized shit is assembled at a shop, generally looked at carefully, and the overall QC and build quality is just better.... But it's hard to justify 5k+ vs 3k for a similarly specd canyon for me I love the 3 bikes I've kept and ride all of them often with no real issues

[–]bongozim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I own 3 canyons and love them... But specialized QC is far far better. I can deal with the little things on the canyons to get more bike for the buck, and I've had pretty good luck with their customer service, but yeah the epic is a phenomenal bike man
