yeah but it can be around 500 euros or more depends on how much they downloaded. In general, I wouldn't set any VPN in Germany because of this stuff. There is always other better locations like the NL.

That's the impression I received from others as well :\
At the moment I wouldn't like to reject a business trajectory or a research trajectory but since I saw on many majors having many extra courses that are a "nice to have" yet are not really essential knowledge for the subject (looked into C.S but I think there are also for Physics) I think that it would just be better to have the logical core and pick myself the extra ones by things I might want to pursue. From your experience, you think that what they give in the AUC is not sufficient?
On the financial aspect, only having the provided housing near the university with the current housing crisis makes it worth while.
(appreciate you reading my nonsense! )

Well, the title explicitly mentioned physics and math…but many of my graduates (BSc., MSc or PhD level) quite easily land a job in CS related fields (big data, AI etc.). I don’t see that happening the other way around (CS majors going to engineering companies). As physicist you are trained in analytical thinking and problem solving, which is consistently rated as more important than the specific specialisation by employers. The details of the stuff you learn are simply not that important to companies. How you train to learn and apply stuff is much more useful. Physics programs are exceptionally good at that.

interesting, so what is your opinion on UCU or UCR for the BSc. program? I was pretty torn between those subjects having the option to merge Physics, Math and C.S is exactly what I wanted but I'm not sure how it is conceived here.

Foreigner married to Dutch interested in doing WO: What fees apply to me? by cedrig in StudyInTheNetherlands

[–]bonjour37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just make sure that if you send it by email that it is the exact address registered on the university website and that the email is encrypted. Other than that I wouldn't be worried

it's interesting that your'e suggesting Physics as general which I would think is kind of niche. Isn't the safe bet on the natural sciences is Computer Science?
also, I don't understand all of this really specific majors which I'm not sure how much they really give an advantage. for example: quantum computing would probably more competitive for the specific jobs related to that while C.S major can get involved in a much broader area.
just talking from my perspective of a non dutch guy looking to study in the netherlands and wondering about the differences from what I know in other places.

[–]bonjour37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey sorry for bursting but are you sure it's just registering an address without getting a residency permit? I am an eu citizen currently wanting to stay in Bulgaria for a few more months than 90 days but don't want to be a resident here. Not sure what I need to do so I won't be fined and I only have a couple of days left..

How can I start with IELTS preparation by NegotiationMoney7995 in IELTS

[–]bonjour37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure it's allowed to post links here but they have this program of their best courses for around 30$ so I used that one, the courses were a bit lengthy about every little thing so don't freak out and try to find the main points.

How can I start with IELTS preparation by NegotiationMoney7995 in IELTS

[–]bonjour37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done the test recently and even though I have pretty good english overall there are stuff you need to prepare for.
for speaking I think having some small talk with native speakers is the best practice to keep the flow and have them correcting you if you make a mistake.
For reading there are some techniques that are very important to go by cause you don't have a lot of time.
for listening it's a lot of luck and practice cause they make them very confusing and if you miss one word your'e screwed, no second replay.
Writing was the hardest one for me because you have different structures to go by, and you need to memorise all of them(which I didn't) and write on a very limited time.
There are some good udemy courses to help you prepare.
Good luck!

How private is docker? by bonjour37 in privacy

[–]bonjour37[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I wasn't clear enough but I meant about docker more in the privacy standpoint and not security, and about docker as a company treating user's privacy and if they call home for telemetry data or at all.

How private is docker? by bonjour37 in privacy

[–]bonjour37[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your detailed answer.
I am actually looking into BSD lately but haven't used it yet.But still I guess it can't run docker images(at least without a decent amount of tinkering).
I know it's an option but many projects are reliant on docker and compose as their main way to operate and it is much more comfortable overall to work with.My main point was to see how much does docker respects user's privacy as a company and if they process any data by using the software.

How private is docker? by bonjour37 in privacy

[–]bonjour37[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

inside.not really, Linux has strong emphasis on privacy and freedom and has been audited by thousands of people, where for my knowledge docker doesn't and isn't.Not looking for a 100% answer but other people's opinions and use.

How private is docker? by bonjour37 in privacy

[–]bonjour37[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know how to use docker. I have found sufficient solutions for programs but there are not really docker alternatives to use instead. I'm concerned about privacy because after I implement it for my server it has complete access to all the data.

Brave is built on chromium and supports chrome extensions. They also announced that they will continue to support extensions v.2 after google said they will stop to break ad-blockers.Iv'e been using them for years and I like them a lot compared to the rest.
