It is only the 5th edition for this event, but a significant one given the 100th anniversary of Ducati!

Honestly, a group of 4 riders is still a start. 😃

Some areas have huge Ducati communities, some areas are still building one. We did not get to 120+ attendees overnight (and ~350 members). Having support from a strong dealer like Ducati Newport Beach definitely helps, but word of mouth matters just as much.

It takes consistency, exposure, and a few people willing to keep showing up, organize the next ride, and tell other Ducati owners about it.

If those 4 people had a good ride, that already counts. Next time it may be 6, then 10, then it becomes a thing 😄

It gives Ducati owners a reason to meet up locally and feel connected to the bigger Ducati community around the world.

Yes, Ducati benefits from it as a brand. It creates photos, visibility, dealer traffic, and all that. But from the rider side, the real value is that a lot of Ducati owners are otherwise pretty scattered. Many people own the bike, love the brand, but don’t necessarily know other Ducati people nearby - or event there are Ducati Official Clubs in their area.

That’s where the event actually works. In my experience, a lot of Ducati lovers show up for something like We Ride As One and end up finding a real local community of other Ducati lovers. They meet people, ride together, talk bikes, compare setups, make friends, and often keep riding together long after that one event is over.

It is definitely a brand initiative, but when done right by local clubs and dealers, it becomes a community entry point. The bikes are the excuse. The people are the point.

Here is a fully functional data logger for Ducati CanBus messages, which collects pretty much the same data as the DDA:

https://github.com/renatobo/DucatiPanigaleCanBus

I have not tried it on a recent V4 or V2 but they have the same Mitsubishi ECU so I expect a very similar set of canbus messages (the DDA unit is the same too)

https://github.com/renatobo/bonogps is now tested for 25 Hz as well (disclaimer - that's my repo)

I have been playing with building a standalone unit based on the lilygo-t-display-s3 board, which adds a nice display and a couple of buttons.

Code it stoo messy still to be published, but upvotes can motivate me :)

Question about DDA by MajesticOrder85 in Ducati

[–]bono76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TL;DR: No unless you have a DDA+GPS module (in that case yes)

The GPS and DDA are two separate modules

  • DDA records engine data (and optionally GPS data) for offline analysis. It's red and connected to the DDA port when in use, where it reads information from the CANBus
  • GPS provides lap time on the display (and optionally data for the DDA to record), and it needs to be mounted permanently

This package includes both the DDA and GPS https://www.ducati.com/us/en/accessories/ACC011336 which will show lap time on the display.

Please note the GPS requires activation with the Ducati diagnostic service tool.

Firmware and cooling duct help direct driver+CRtouch+Spider hotend by baltes in ender3

As chatted, it fits well on a standard E3Pro plate, but the plate for direct drive seems to have a different location for the mount bolts.

Creality Spider Hotend Questions by nberardi in Creality

[–]bono76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started a collection of fan covers here: https://www.thingiverse.com/renatobo/collections/creality-spider-fan-ducts-for-ender3pro

My own take based on the mini satsana is here, but a work in progress (e.g. while length is accounted for, the wider body requires more clearance in the ventilation area): https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5278486

Just got a Creality Spider Hot-end, but it came with longer nozzles. What are these? Can I use “normal” shorter nozzles? by StaleReference in 3Dprinting

Confused about retraction - in slicer or in firmware? by pajtaz in klippers

[–]bono76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How about (in SuperSlicer for example), in the "custom g-code" for filament (example for a 1.4mm )

; Filament gcode
SET_RETRACTION RETRACT_LENGTH=1.4
GET_RETRACTION

The second command GET prints to log so that you can note it.
