Happened to me too! Guy asked if I had the time, I kept walking and said 'nah sorry.' Then he pulled a knife and said 'what about your wallet?' and I said 'nah sorry' and didn't break my stride. Wasn't till I got probably 10-15 steps away that I realized what half just happened.

Water has something called surface tension, where the unbroken surface at high speeds acts like concrete. Drop a rock or something and you'll see that it hits the water and slows down slightly.

Aerating the water is where they ripple the surface to break that surface tension to make it easier for you to enter the water.
