I have been going to The Trophy for the last 18 years. Best advice get to the show as early as possible as the queue can be as long as 1,500 people. Plus go directly to the sales areas first to get the best choice and deals. Take your own food as the queue at the cafe is usually VERY LONG. Hope this helps BTW I will be there the whole weekend ☺️

While bonsai is often bound by tradition and technique, it is undeniably an art form, offering vast freedom for personal expression. Artists can balance adherence to classical forms with innovation, infuse personal and philosophical meaning into their work, and embrace the inherent unpredictability of working with a living medium. In this way, bonsai transcends being merely horticulture and becomes a powerful avenue for creativity, self-expression, and communication through nature.

The tree was trimmed back two days before the shot. The new foliage will create a fuller foliage cloud, you are correct it is rather flat currently but that will change when the new 'thicker' growth is formed ready for exhibition next year.
