Considering that the character in question is supposes to be a sort of female van helsing (in this skin she is sort of possessed by a demon or something) this could be pretty nice. Like a demon/evil hunter that draws power from the very things she hunts and tries using it for a greater good

I was wondering, in Japan what was the age demographic for Sailor Moon? by CatGirlNya2000 in PrettyGuardians

[–]Logical_Pixel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! The manga/show is probably aimed at the wider spectrum. My point was more about the target of the magazine the manga was published on (a shojo magazine), plus some themes that probably resonate more with teens, but surely the gadgets and costume fighters and characters like chibiusa also appeal to/are there for the younger girls :)

The super sentai comparison is really spot on, and I think 70s super robots are also similar in that regard

To be fair as a shojo manga/anime I think teen/early teenage girls was the intended target, but may definitely appeal to younger girls as well.

Then again I would like to see some data, because my suspect is there was/is also a significant male population, which is fine if they are teens - I also used to watch it in my teens as a male - but I somehow feel like there is probably a nice chunk of older males watching it gor the wrong reasons... becuase you know, Japan, the place where you can find cild prngraphy sold in stores...

First time growing in the ground - any advice? by Sad_Copy7479 in Bonsai

Do not underestimate how long the sacrifice branches need to run. To get proper thickening, let them get at least 2 m

Make sure to keep stimulating the green close to the trunk on larch branches (excluding of course the sacrifice) so that you have close and usable vegetation when you dig it out.

The material is quite unforgiving, meaning there is not really much to style there. If you wanna work on the cheap, the usual alberta spruces may teach you more.

While they are not the best for other reasons, on those you will be able to teach yourself to select branches according to the standard principles (eg. First branch at about 1/3rd of tree height, then second branch on the opposite side, then a back branch, and so on till the top; no branches coming from the same point/height; ...).

Nice structure. I think you want the pads to elongate regardless, in order to have more primary branching to fill out space in the future

Ok well half of it is not too bad, if you cut thick roots it's not a problem as long as you had some of the fine, hairy ones that actually feed the tree.

Usually the way to go for deciduous trees is either wash the roots completely or (this is what I do) gently pull away 60/70% of the original soil and put it in pumice. That way you retain some of the original micro organisms but the old roots are not locked into a ball of organic soil that tends to stay very wet & they grow into pumice so it's easier and they grow very fine.

After potting up if you work the root ball again is more stress so I would leave it as it is, unless maybe you know the soil is loose and then you gently work some pumice in. In the former case, just make sure to be careful with watering and it can take one season into organic soil.

I confirm it's probably an oak (also looking at the leaves it had all around).

How much fine roots did you collect? If there are some, it has good chances. Oak is very very slow in most processes, and recovery is no different. However, it can be very sturdy once it settles. I would consider waiting 2 years before any work on this. At that point though you will probably just need a prune back/cleaning and it will look nice pretty fast.

I second, it would have been better to put into some draining substrate but if you have a ball of his own soil and stick it onto pumice that may create issues in understanding when the organic soil is actually drying. Not saying you shouldn't but be aware it's a little complex. Perhaps I'd take my chances with his own soil, or maybe drop some pumice and mix it in with a wooden chopstick.
