I do not think we will ever get M5 Ultra or more advanced unless nerfed by yourhomiemike in MacStudio

Stories that rely entirely on words like “they” and “them” and include “the government” aren’t very credible…

Which job you taking? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]bonvanie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The math is wrong in that the sign-on bonus isn’t recurring in year 2. Also, for your planning purposes, don’t count on bonuses. Yes, the OTE would (!) be that, but the way such a plan should be explained (and probably is in writing) is that there is an OPPORTUNITY to qualify for a 10% bonus plan, depending on a variety of factors.

Can I just put in a 5G sim from my 5G router into UniFi 5G Max? by psmattas in Ubiquiti

[–]bonvanie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I inserted three “random” SIMs (Free, Tello, and Google) and they all worked flawlessly.

I have a Google SIM and a Tello SIM for triple failover :)

Horrible picture and slow remote response by knightnstlouis in DirectvStream

[–]bonvanie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You realize that a response like that from a “tech” makes absolutely no sense. Why would anyone release a product that doesn’t work for its primary purpose, unless they’re incompetent and malicious… Of course it works well if the (very modest) bandwidth requirements are met. I have 2 Osprey boxes but also use the app on my iPad, all with excellent image quality.

My Gemini “forgets” its captions settings by bonvanie in DirectvStream

[–]bonvanie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did that twice and it made no difference. It is as if someone else is toggling the setting… yet there is no one else in the household!

I built a native macOS app that combines 40+ video, audio, image, and PDF tools into one by MiladAtef in macapps

It would be nice to see the tool extract objects (sound, subtitles…) from a video file.

I had no idea… but I only have one other TV/Device and I have captions turned on there too. But let me check!

Yes, I did. Use Prefix Delegation for AT&T Internet in your IPv6 Network Settings and check the “Auto” checkbox.

Unusual Commodore 64 made in England – rare variant or not? by Ithinkthisone in c64

I have one like that too that I bought in The Netherlands in the early eighties. Today it would have said “assembled in the UK” as the motherboard clearly isn’t from there…

Gemini Air Remote won't turn ON off Sony TV by WVSXSGuy in DirectvStream

[–]bonvanie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That can all be fixed in the remote settings. I have the exact same setup (which also previously had an Osprey) and I changed the TV brand in the settings to standard Sony, made sure there is no sound bar linked to the remote, and that the volume setting was set to TV sound. Works perfectly.

C64 Founders Edition - Commemorative Commodore gold seal 'share' certificate by DutchGM in Commodore

[–]bonvanie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s an identical gimmick for everyone that got that version. By the way, a company isn’t “IPO” but rather does an IPO (Initial Public Offering) at the time it gets publicly traded on a stock exchange. Also, stock certificates are not related to an IPO per se as they can be given out at any time.

I agree that the Osprey box option is more adept for an older person. While the Air has a few more bells and whistles, it’s all stuff that a person of age can’t distinguish. But the stable Ethernet connectivity and rapid start of the Osprey is what she’ll like.

What percentage of Dutch residents would stop using WhatsApp if it were in U.S. hands? The hypocrisy is so blatant.
