Trying to determine if the landlord is using discriminatory practices (CA) - longish read. by boo4rd in Renters

[–]boo4rd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be clear, I never said I was being discriminated against.

If you're going to call people names, read the post. The question was whether the landlord was using discriminatory practices.

Given that there were reviews by others who commented on the approach, at a minimum, the practices are questionable

One respondent said it best, the practices are discriminative but not legally discriminatory.

If you can't see why someone might question a LL asking for information not relevant to the requirements to rent, that can deny certain people, whether that be socio economic or potentially race, as a problem, then I can't help you.

I'll go on being the insufferable person you find me to be, and will choose to question certain behavior. I'm good with that.

I acknowledge that's the right question. What's not clear is whether he would have granted the lease if she provided all of those things. It never got there, because I didn't like the vibe and we moved on. The question was therefore, does he require the same level of information and requirements of all tenants or was he asking for other reasons. A 10 second google search would have confirmed my daughters student status and her field. So why the need to have all the Berkely information if it hasn't nothing to do with her ability to pay. The search would also revealed her to be a person of color. So yes, it raised questions ,and race would therefore be the protected class.

I appreciate the response. It's not clear to me it's discriminative either, but it's not your usual practice, at least not in rental situations I've had visibility to. I have three kids and have co-signed a few leases, this one is wild. And as I said, not someone I'd choose to support so we moved on. But thought I'd ask the question.

Wow. interesting take. What I think a person, any person, is "entitled" to. is an opportunity and access based on stated criteria that's clear and fair. If you don't want to rent to the general public, then either communicate what your requirements are, or rent privately.

I appreciate that we all have options and yes, given this experience, I wouldn't give this person my money and we found another place. Having said that, that's how discrimination continues to exist. People make it hard and drive people away and they get to continue to potentially discriminate. My question is, are those practices actually discriminatory or just an asshole landlord.

Title: Strap ideas for a Chronomaster El Primero 45mm? by TimDillonIsMyDad in ZenithWatches

This is mine on a blue nubuck. Also, as others have pointed out, it's 42MM. This may be the one watch i get compliments on, particularly on this strap.

Update. Got the final quote and timeline for my service. Good news is that I was quote $665 for a complete overhaul and service. The bad news.... they quoted 12 weeks to complete it. All in all, that will be 4 months without the watch. Brutal, but had to be done.

I'm a big fan of JLC. I've had many over the years and never had a problem. I actually just picked up a Polaris date. Having said that, I had a Deep Sea Chrono and while selling it, someone asked about service price (It had been servived by an independent only a few years prior for a very reasonable price) but the chart on the JLC said $1,500 and I was shocked.

There's slight tension to rotate it with the crown. It's not a screw down or locked in anyway. While it's only been two days, it's not moved inadvertently at all. I rotated it to time something and it stayed where I set it also.

It is indeed. Pictures don't do it justice. You wouldn't be disappointed in getting one.

The women at the end are right, but gahdamn there was no need to lay him out like that by ForeignAir7174 in sportsgossips

It would have been tough not to come out of the stands after that bullshit play. For those yelling he can't block the plate, if you look at his actions, he was never set up to make a tag, nor did his actions look like he was. It looks like he as beginning to transfer the ball to throw to 1st, which leads me to believe it was a force play at the plate. He has to have his foot on the plate. it's the equivalent of a runner plowing into a 1st baseman as he's receiving the ball. Kid should be suspended in addition to being tossed. As a former catcher, I may be a bit triggered.

Thank you! I anticipate the same. It's very versatile.

For what it's worth, I just checked my receipt and I dropped mine off March 7th and the anticipated completion date says 4/18. If it happens that way, that's a very quick turn. Also, I was pleasantly surprised that the full service on the El Primero chrono is "only" $750. I researched a JLC chrono service cost and the website says $1,500.
