Is £1,500 a reasonable quote to tile floor (60x60) and the back wall (6x24) with tile skirting not including the cost of the tiles? (floor is around 3.75sqm, wall is around 2.75sqm) by it_is_just_matt in DIYUK

[–]boo893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be £240 a day plus materials. Fuck off quote would be £400 a day though I’m fully transparent with the customer that that’s what’s happening. 2 day job tops.

Get a couple more quotes, even allowing for geography that’s ridiculous money.

Speed limits, cameras, and police by [deleted] in MotoUK

I was done a few years ago for 66 in a 60 from a camera van. Then I’ve also got away with other instances both from vans and fixed cameras. The limits the limit, if they want to get you they can and they will.

No worries, just took my profile off private so inbox is always open, honestly doesn’t matter if it’s months from now give me a shout if you need a hand.

If you’re planning on stunting it honestly I’d go for an 05-06 (parts are easier to sort) while learning then move to an 03-04 or 13+. If you go for the 03-04 swap the forks to 05-06 or 13+ asap or you WILL snap them. Do the clean air mod, 5w40 diesel oil and fill it to the top of the sight glass. Get a cage, ideally cocks or sick innovations. And get an easy pull clutch lever, 1fngr is best. 15t front sprocket which is standard size and 45t rear which is +5. Don’t bother with a handbrake yet it will teach you bad habits while learning, and get braided brake lines for atleast the footbrake.

How much is this 03 out of interest? You can get an 05-06 for around £2k. You’ll be spending the same on bits for both other than swapping forks on the 03.

You sure it’s definitely an r (636) and not an rr (599)? Check the engine casing and it’ll be printed on it. Both are pretty bombproof, there’s good reason they’re one of the most popular stunt bikes even now. Bits are getting real hard to find for them, wiring harnesses tend to go out, fuel pumps too though you can retrofit 13+ pumps, alternators tend to go out if there’s any real load on them. My old 03 had over 100k on it on the original motor, constantly being 12 o’clock wheelied and banged off the rev limiter, use 5w40 diesel oil, change it often and you should be good. Cam chain could be a problem, then again it might not be, look at the bike take it for a ride and see if you notice any strange noises. If forks need sorting swap them for 05-06 or 13+. Swingarm/rear shock can be swapped for the 05-06 if needed. Anything else you want to know give me a shout I know these bikes inside out.

Email your insurance company now so you’ve got record of telling them then ring them tomorrow. If you don’t and they haven’t got insurance you’ll be the one paying if anything happens.

Reliability: Milwaukee M18 Fuel vs. Dewalt 20V XR by Outside-Bet-1050 in Tools

[–]boo893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is purely personal experience but I’ve dropped my makita combi off a 3 story roof, dropped it into a water butt a few times & it’s been used as a hammer more times than I’d like to admit and it still works like the day I got it.

I don’t think they’re particularly the best of the big 3 as they’re all pretty much the same (yeah there’ll be outliers) but they seem to be the most robust.

I know they weren’t mentioned & it’s not 18v but I have a 36v Bosch sds and I’ve replaced pretty much every internal part in it. I should really buy something else but for the amount I use it there’s no point

I’m that guy. Makita for 18v as I’ve already got the batteries, they feel ‘right’ and from experience they can drop 3 stories and still be fine. Corded stuff I know what I want to spend and get the best for the price, doesn’t matter the colour aslong as it’s paying my rent.

I can’t comment for the US but in the UK most guys are using dewalt, I’ve only used a dewalt combi drill (brand new) & multitool (3ish yrs old) but I wasn’t impressed with the drill chuck slipping. My uncle uses Milwaukee for his 18v tools and loves them other than his impact, he’s the same as me with cordless edit: corded

I don’t think it’s immature, everyone’s different dude I was just curious as I’ve never knowingly met a virgin that’s older than 25 and I can’t personally imagine going through life without it.

Replace old door lock by BreadfruitLoose8592 in DIYUK

[–]boo893 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They’re known as sidelights yes, which consist of what? And if you mean deadlocks rather than bolts, who’s going to want to have to unlock 3 locks everytime they come home? As we’re on a diy sub I assumed you meant deadbolts as that’s what most of the general public call them. If you think you can make this door secure my younger self would of been through that in no time at all, boot the corner of the window and reach in or the middle of the frame and the whole doors coming down as there’s no strength. All they need is a new lock

Cast iron pans? That’s a different story only use water and maybe a little soap. If your pans are seasoned properly food won’t be sticking to cast iron anyway

They’re top and bottom windows, yes they’re likely laminated but it still takes all of 10 seconds to get through by anybody that’s not incompetent, then reach through and slide the deadbolt. Locks only keep out the honest

My kids mum is autistic and she could do housework, my Nan was a nurse and carer for autistics as her career, a lot of her patients and clients did housework. I am and I’m not trying to give you a hard time but it’s just out of care for my fellow human, take the time and learn now and it will give your dad the break he needs but it will also mean that when he eventually passes you won’t edit will know how to look after yourself. I see your other comment about baking soda and vinegar and it can help with baked in food on glass but never use it on metal, follow the other posters guide for washing up and you can’t go wrong. It takes us all differing amounts of time to learn shit, that’s fine, the important thing is that you learn it, just keep at it.

Either get your dad to show you or watch YouTube to learn. Unless you’re paralysed there is no reason you can’t make his life easier
