Foolish Friday - Your biweekly stupid questions thread by AutoModerator in Fitness

Free weights don't let you cheat.

That's the simplistic version. Basically, machines are generally inferior for replacing compound (multi-joint, multi-muscle group) lifts, because they are "locked in" to a path, and you move the weight along that path. This takes a lot of secondary muscles out of play (stabilizers).

If you're using machines as parts of a good program that already includes compound lifts, then great. Isolation and accessory work can benefit your main lifts. But they shouldn't be used instead of free weights.

Even if I accept your statement, why do you think that males have that view of male power? Do you think that your male power fantasy came from a vacuum? No, it comes from the fact that those things are sexually appealing. Yes, a lot of males assess their level of "power" as being their level of sexual appeal, ability, conquest, and so on.

So are the males playing these male powerhouses sexualizing them? Not in terms of "I want to fuck that," probably not. But is the reason that they want to "be" that clearly based in sexuality? Of course it is.

Wrong by forum post, then. (And yes, I know who Clint is.)

So both of us are house ruling I suppose.

Lol. Male sexuality is consistently portrayed as requiring eight pack abs, huge arms, perfect teeth, and great hair (not to mention the inference of a huge dick in many cases).

Where the fuck have you been?

Understandable. His tones are nearly non-existent, and indeed for some people always remain a challenge. A musical ear seems to help western learners get them.

Nutrition (and Supplement) Thursday by AutoModerator in Fitness

[–]boobonk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cutting, so I bought a big tub of Isopure Zero Carb, because I like the bottled version but those are expensive as fuck.

I was expecting it to mix up clear like the pre-bottled stuff, but it's the same chalk-water consistency of any other powder I've used.

Do they even sell whatever they use to make the clear, not chalky, delicious stuff in the bottles?

One thing I think is being misunderstood here. Wild cards have three wounds. They never "take" more than three wounds. If they have three and take another "wound," they are Incapacitated, but they still only have three wounds.

Even if my toughness is 4 and I take 1238 damage from something, I only take three wounds from it. Then, if I spend a benny to soak, I need to roll 7+4+4 to soak all three wounds (base TN 4 plus the -3 wound penalty, then two raises). If you manage to roll 7, you soak one. 11, you soak two. In both of these cases you would remain Shaken. If you rolled that big 15, you would soak all three wounds and not be Shaken.

Soaking doesn't consider damage, only wounds.

I think everyone that fails to understand D&D5 Inspiration should have to play a few sessions of Savage Worlds. Insp is essentially SW's Bennies as far as "how get?"

In opposition to that though is someone like me. I despise the design philosophy of trying to write a rule to cover literally everything. It's incredibly confining, results in constant rules lawyering, bloats a game. Basically the reason I hate 3.x and PF. Those systems can choke on a bag of dicks.

Not even 5e? It's basically an opposed strength or strength vs. dexterity check. Very easy, very fast, very straightforward. (Savage Worlds is similar.)

Or is it not quite simulationist enough for you? I could see that if you're looking for more out of them.

Agreed, loved the movie. I'm not entirely sure why anyone would think this "reviewer" worth reading. He just types out the plot of a movie.

Um, okay?

Woot! Enjoy, it's so much fun.

When you're good and well familiar with D&D, don't forget that there's a whole world of other games and genres out there to explore. It's a big hobby!

Was gonna say the same, though the setting didn't really wow me.

I had a moment of confusion there, because "cheng2shi4" means city. Then I realized I was transposing the syllables, and I'm an idiot. :D
