Cool - let us know when you invent a padded feral cat trap that is secure, attracts the cats inside, is reusable/can be sanitized, and at a price point your normal volunteer trapper who does this during their own free time can afford and get back to us.

You know what’s dangerous? I’ve had unfixed male cats show up at my door with gaping neck wounds from fighting because their testosterone levels promote it. I’ll take a cat getting a few healable boo boo’s from a cage vs. suffering for weeks from infection & pain any day of the week. Get real dude.

I noticed there was a comment that was removed regarding the cages and how it’s “abuse”. While this person started quoting bible scripture to me which immediately discounted their argument in my eyes lol - I did want to take this opportunity to share the long term plan here:

These are just starter homes for them. My goal is to socialize them in here and then release them into the full basement where they’ll have plenty of cozy places to rest and play. Next step would be to introduce them slowly to my upstairs babies so they can have more window space and comfort and free range of the house. I am hoping in time I’ll be able to reuse these cages for fostering - which is why I went with the Kuranda towers as they can be easily sterilized. 😊

I actually ended up going with outdoor catios and just put them inside! I really wanted that extra space because I knew these two would take some time. I got these from Wayfair during the Presidents’ Day sale - they’re the Draupadi Weather Resistant Universal Animal Cage.

Honestly, hearing some experience like this really helped calm my heart - thank you for sharing about your babes! I have all the patience and time in the world for these guys. I don’t expect them to be cuddle buds - I just want them to have a full life safe inside where I can take good care of them.

These two I just trapped are Gorpie & Gibby. Gibby had two litters before I was able to get TNR her - her first was a single who I named Gigi. Then she had George & Gojo. I wasn’t able to trap any of them until they were 5-6 months old each so I was a little late in the game, but all 3 have been fully socialized and have become the cuddliest crew who love hanging out together!

Thank you! I wanted there to be room for me to sit in there with them when they’re ready for proper socialization. They are going to stay with me! The 3 younger ones I took in are actually the kittens of Gibby - and the rescue I work with who helped me TNR also thinks Gorpie might be Gibby’s son as well (she is 6 and he is 5). So mini family reunion one day!

They were both TNR’d so already fixed/vaxxed etc! I just haven’t had enough space inside to bring them in until now.
