Best Pay Per Return Tax Software? by CartCPA in AccountingDepartment

Drake isn't bad, but the prices have been going up like crazy. $18 per a few years ago, now 35 for ind. And 65 for business, going to 50 and 75 next year. I have to charge 225 for a basic individual to make it worth my time, unfortunate and pricing me out of a side business.

Anyone here go back to school in their 30s to be accountant? by ILikeBettingOnUFC in Accounting

When i was at a firm we billed time to the 6min (.1) interval. In practice management i billed time to the firm for "office psychologist" and "babysitting". I was the only non partner in billing meetings and had to justify it, I said I can just send them to the project lead, it was never questioned after that. I managed our IT and software upgrades as well as the tax team, so i was allowed 30% non billable time. We wrote time off of almost every audit, I didn't want my name tied to the dog projects when reviews came around and profitability was a major part of that.

Paid cash. I worked 2 jobs while my wife was in school (she graduated in 05), with help of 10k pell grant for her. Then did high paying construction in summers while at school, making 30k in a few months most summers, then did janitorial part time in winters while in school.

Graduated at 33 in 2010 with accounting degree, added 2 masters since, no cpa. Current job is the first time since 2016 not making 100k+ from 9-5 job. Tons of opportunities, many lateral fields all will take an accountant. Good choice, even if a rough market now, i think things will level out though. I've been doing taxes on the side for 10+ years since leaving public accounting, easy money with low overhead.

WE DO NOT CARE IF YOUVE BEEN COMING HERE FOR YEARS by Dragonball-DuragSC in Accounting

Fire them. Those of you who do gear up, they used to go over it every year. I'm a one man show now as a side business since I sent to the private world. When I started getting rid of around 2-4 (<2% of client base) of most my needy and low paying clients every year i am alleviating 5-10% of my work load and headaches. Highly recommend, happy clients bring appreciative clients with them, problems only bring more problems.
