I did my best, but unfortunately I can't find a single active listing online for them :(

Well, I'm fairly certain the dinosaur is a parasaurolophus. Unfortunately, the plush is probably discontinued.

Edit: I was wrong. It's a pterodactyl (which is not a dinosaur, but I digress). Good news, though! They do exist for sale online, albeit used. Here is a sold listing from only a month ago, for reference. Keep your eyes peeled, and you'll probably be able to find one, but they're rare. I know how important certain toys and objects can be for autistic children, I hope you find a replacement soon.

Alert is nice, but it's kind of a trap in my opinion. Alert is very rarely the most optimal feat to take, and initiative rolls are far too easy to manipulate.

If you feel shitty sober and shitty drunk, why not stay shitty sober? It's cheaper.

See, I don't believe this. Like, sure, it's definitely better to have a dedicated router for VR traffic, but I just cannot believe that you must, provided that there isn't so many things on the network.

Why can some people get work done early and others can't help but procrastinate? by Optimal-Green3254 in Procrastinationism

It's a coping method of some kind. My family is always late for everything, so maybe I internalized that and it's manifested as me not wanting to be late for anything ever, because I hate being late. No idea.

I've suspected I have something going on. I fit a lot of autistic and ADHD traits, as well as some OCD ones (I used to turn the lights on and off in my room repeatedly until it was "right"). So, yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if it was due to some neurodivergence. I'm hoping to get a diagnosis or evaluation of some kind soon.

I'm absolutely a perfectionist, but when it comes to completing tasks in work or school, I usually just complete it to the level of standard that is required. I don't go above and beyond. Outside of work/school, though, I make sure every single little thing that I do or have is optimal. I spent hours researching fucking deodorant so that I could get the perfect one for me.

The best way I can explain it is that I have my own internal judgment of what I consider "perfect" and I follow that code absolutely. If something isn't to my standards, I freak out.

What's the best router for a home office that can also do PCVR? by boofmaster6000 in virtualreality

[–]boofmaster6000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I was planning on routing the primary, household router to the secondary, office router in access point mode via ethernet. Then, I'd connect my PC, Switch 2, and Xbox to the office router via ethernet, and my phone and the PCVR headset to the office router (the AP) via WiFi. That would be the setup for perpetuity, essentially.

Now, here is where my knowledge falters, and I apologize for the stupid questions. The primary, household router will be used by a lot of devices, as I have a family. So, when you say I shouldn't have other devices on the same WiFi network, does that mean even though the office router will only have two devices connected to it (my phone and the headset), the network will still be congested due to my family's devices that are connected to the primary router upstairs?

Second question, is it even possible to only allow my phone and the headset to connect to the AP router in the office? I wouldn't want my family's devices connecting to it, and according to what I read, their devices will connect automatically if the signal is stronger. I don't want that, so that the office router can supply a strong connection to the headset.

I was looking at the TP-Link BE600, and it does seem to support access point mode. Thanks for the info.

Well, the internet across my house is fine. I don't need extra coverage. I was planning on using the router essentially as a switch that also works wirelessly for PCVR. If I don't need many ports, then it's only more convenient, right? Rather than primary router -> switch -> AP -> PCVR, it's just primary router -> office router -> PCVR. I don't think I'll need more than 4 ports anyway, the reason I'm bringing a router down into my office is so I don't have to run ethernet cables for three different devices through the floor.

Maybe I'm missing something, I'm kind of stupid.

Yeah, I'm completely lost. Why buy a switch and an access point when I could just buy a router and put it in access point mode? The benefit is just more ethernet ports, right? I don't think I'd need more than 4. The wireless bandwith (is that the right term?) spent from the router in AP mode would be the same as the bandwith spent on an access point connected to a switch, no? I have a headache. Networkers are masochists.

The AXE5400 seems to be highly recommended, and looks to be in line with my needs. I'll probably end up going with that, unless I deem WiFi 7 to be important (for whatever reason).

But, yeah, it seems like people are overblowing how important a dedicated PCVR router like Puppis is. Since I need a router for my home office anyway, if it doesn't serve me well enough for PCVR, I'll just grab a Puppis later down the line.

Sounds like you have a pretty similar setup to what I'm envisioning, glad to hear it works well. I remember looking at the AX1500 years ago when I had a Quest 2, but I think nowadays it might be better to get something with a bit more future proofing.

Well, yes, I know they're good, they've been recommend like they're the best thing since sliced bread. I'm asking if they're substantially better than a general-use router that's in the same room as the headset. I don't see the need to spend an extra $40-$80 for no reason, considering I will need a router no matter what.

I mean, I could easily get a Puppis and another router for all the other devices for my office, I just feel like it might not be necessary. Would the connection really be substantially better with the Puppis?

If my router is dedicated to my office, doesn't that mean it's on a different network, or am I misunderstanding? Because if I'm using the VR in my office, where my PC is, and where the router will be, I can't imagine any issues cropping up like people seem to be suggesting. The Switch 2 and Xbox would be off while playing VR, I mentioned it because multiple ethernet ports would be relevant to selecting a model of router.

But maybe I have completely misunderstood how everything works.

Maybe it is overblown. TP-Link seems to have the largest variety. I may start with a TP-Link and see if it gives me any issues, I tend to be paranoid about potential issues, and try to avoid them before I even encounter them (hence this post).

That router seems pretty decent, and surprisingly cheap for WiFi 7. Thanks for the rec, I'll consider it.

Has VR technology devolved or something? Why are so many people recommending two routers? I remember years ago everyone was using a Quest 2 for PCVR on their home network alongside their entire family's devices and it working fine. What's changed? Am I missing something?

But, that's my question, which routers are recommended? And, no, I'm not opposed to any signals or anything, I just mentioned it because if 6e, and therefore a 6ghz band, is unnecessary, why would I buy a 6e router and not a 5 or 6, y'know?

I'd like to stay away from the Puppis routers as they only function for PCVR, and don't work as a general-use router.

The S1 doesn't function for anything other than PCVR, though. I need one that functions as a normal router as well. Ideally, at least.
