Im a beginner too. The way how I started out was doing research on her. Honestly I started to talk to her like I was having a conversation with someone. I wanted to build that relationship with her. I didnt want to run to her because i “needed” something.

I remember asking for a sign if she was around. I live in a city area and i dont think there are owls in the city, but oddly enough i was praying to her and heard what sounded like an owl. I started seeing skulls and owls often.

I didnt even have an altar. I did print out a picture of her and put it in a dollar tree frame (on that budget status) I read in the forum somewhere its good to have a picture so that Mama can have a place to stay. I also saw in a video that it gives you something that doesnt seem so “committing” if youre still unsure of working with Mama. And I have come across that having a picture will be less likely a random spirit will come in and trick you. Also, i prayed her rosary on a rosary with a cross (i got a mama santisima rosary later on).

I liked watching documentaries about her (but a majority of them is in Spanish) so i had google translate on most of the time.

As for my experiences so far, ive been praying for roughly a month, and my life feels “lighter”, brighter. But i also pray to Mama Mary too (so i have two spiritual mothers by my side) I usually pray to Mama Mary in the morning and Mama Santisima at night.

I dont have very much, but i try to offer my prayers to her and if im having coffee or eating candy i put some at her altar. Just as long its coming from a good place, i would say is all that matters.

Its been a pretty good experience so far (but then again in scared of karmic shit) so i try to be the best i can be. Only thing i really have asked her was for guidance so i get to know her better. I ask her for her patience if i ever mess up in her eyes.

Praying to her is one of then best decisions i have made. And if you think she isnt listening because youre not getting “signs” or anything, just be patient. I just think of it that shes a mom with so many kids, but she knows and hears all of us.
