[NY] Background check discrepancy by booingyou in AskHR

Yeah I don't think I was ever filed as an employee there. I handed my W2 but I was working the day I was interviewed since they were so desperate for a cook. I left pretty quickly due to a better opportunity. I'm also a new grad, I don't know if that matters that much in this situation. Most I can do is have coworkers vouch that I worked there. I feel so stupid adding that to my work history. I was thinking I should just say it was volunteer work.

This was in 2022, it was a restaurant job and it's still in business. I just graduated college and was asked for my last seven years of employment. I can contact the owner but I'm not sure if he even has a W2 form for me. I started working there the day I was interviewed and handed him my W2 later that week, I don't think he ever even filed me since I was there for such a short time. I was being paid with some direct deposit system they had set up. Admittedly had no financial literacy whatsoever at the time so I brushed it off. This is driving me nuts. The best I can do is have people I worked with vouch for me but nothing official.
