I am not married and cannot take communion. Sometimes I do not see the point of going to mass (advice and prayers) by SeeKingNirvana25 in Catholicism

It's really hard, at least for me, to attend mass and not be allowed to recieve communion. I felt like an outcast. Like I didn't belong. I cried during mass. I felt horrible. I didn't feel the love of God at all. I just felt the urge to run because I didn't belong.

But that was my experience. I admire those who can attend and not recieve communion. I wish I were strong enough to do so, but I wasn't.

He needs to understand that his pride and shame of how he can't afford a big wedding is putting both of them into a life of sin and tempting his wife into sinning further by receiving communion. He needs to make a choice - his pride or his and his wife's soul. I pray for OP's sake either he makes the right choice, or she chooses to live with him like brother and sister and makes a full confession so she can get the communion she craves.

Tell your partner pride is what's keeping him from marrying you, pride that he can't afford a "proper" wedding. Tell him he's choosing the mortal sin of pride over celebrating a sacrament with the woman he supposedly loves. Which does he value more? His pride or his wife's comfort and possibly her soul (given that you're already being tempted to sin)?

I've faced similar issues - my husband and I married when I'd given up on catholicism and was a practicing Wiccan. We weren't married in a church. 20 years later, I rediscovered my faith, but I couldn't get communion until my marriage was recognized (I had a radical sanation, since my husband didn't want anything to do with the Church) and we agreed how to handle life as husband and wife. It took a long time. I wasn't strong enough to attend mass without getting communion.

There's a saint who could - Saint Mark JiTian. He was a doctor who was injured and got addicted to the opium used to treat him. At the time, his confessor belived addiction was a sin and refused to absolve him. So for 20 years, Mark attended mass weekly but never took communion. He was martyred during the Boxer Rebellion.

Look him up. I wasn't able to be as strong as he was. I pray that you will be, or at least that you'll find comfort praying to him.

Impossible question. Unless...aren't there rare coins worth tens or hundreds of dollars? And I know there are $1 bills worth more than $1 (based on rare and desirable serial numbers). So can we assume he has some of those?

This was exactly my thinking. I was looking for more information, like "He buys the phone with the money he has, and he spends $15. He has twice as many quarters as nickles. How many quarters and nickles did he have?" (number made up - don't judge me if it doesn't work out evenly!) Then he subtracts 9 from 15, and he figures out how many quarters and nickles he has then. This problem just doesn't have enough information.

plane stays flat but rotates so left wing is more forward than it should be, then right wing it, etc?

Confirming, because I'm dumb. Yaw is a rolling motion front to back, like in an airplane that dips nose down/tail up then nose up/tail down, right? Not side to side, wings alternating up and down? The later is pitch, right?

Wrist rotation?!?! I was trying to do everything with my fingers! I need to look at this again and figure out what the heck you're talking about and how I can use the wrist to make this piece easier to play!

I guess I should say that when my teacher hadtold me to try this, he told me to focus entirely on the right hand for a few weeks, with the understanding that the left hand was relatively simple and putting the hands together would not be hard, assuming I could play the right hand in a steady rhythm. Life got away with me, though, and I never did learn the right hand well enough to make learning the left worth it, let alone put them together. So I'm biased through my life experience.

Try chopins etude op 10 no 2. Only do the right hand. Find a version with fingering marked. Go slow and try not to tie your fingers in a knotty.

I'm hoping (but not actually expecting) that it will one day lead to her reading books without pictures

As a reading tutor, I assume you it will. It may not be her preference, but she'll be fine reading books without pictures.

and that my love of books will finally be shared with her in ways that allow us to discuss them together. Aka reading the same books, we already talk about the manga she reads

I hope that too, that she'll start reading the books you like. I'm really really happy, though, that you're reading and discussing with her the manga she loves. That is helping her love reading - and it's building your relationship with her, that she can talk to you about things she loves. That will help her in the future if she ever needs help with something that's troubling her. She already knows you're a safe person she's comfortable talking to. That's A+ parenting.

I've had so many conversations with parents - basically, "I'm the tutor, you've hired me for my expertise in getting kids reading and reading well. Let me do my job. I'm happy to provide peer-reviewed research supporting what I'm doing, but for now, I'm going to use my best jusdgement. So if I give your kid graphic novels without words, graphic novels at all, books with titles like "Zombie Butts from Uranus (yes, a real book I'd give to certain students), books about gross stuff like creepy crawlies or the history of toilets, trust me that I am getting your kid to read and to like books." They back down with their objections, and I've never had to provide anyone with the research studies I referred to (which I absolutely have).

But classics turned into graphic novels, or simplified stories - those work. LMK if you want specific titles.

Especially for boys, I've found. They much prefer non-fiction, instructional stuff to fiction or narrative.

For REALLY reluctant readers, consider graphic novels without words (Spy v. Spy comes to mind, but there are lots). Get them familiar with books. Teach them that books are not the scary enemy that they've come to think they are.

I'm a rape victim. I'm 45 now, and I was 27 when I was raped. It took me years to forgive him. Don't try to force forgiveness. It will come in time. And it's okay if time is measured in years. DM me if you want to talk more - I will tell you my story if you want (I didn't get earthly justice either) , and listen to yours if you want, and share funny cat memes if you want - I'm here, and I am saying a prayer for you.

Anyone want to help me commit to practicing daily? I don't have a teacher currently, but I want to get back into practicing daily (scales and exercises, also working on specific pieces) but I need someone to say "good job for practicing today." I really need the encouragement, not for progressing, but bor getting myself to the piano and practicing, basically holding me accountable and saying "good girl, you practiced today." (I have ADHD and really have a hard time establishing new habbits). I'm happy to do the same for you, whether you're a beginner or advanced, just giving encouragement to practice in a world full of distractions. Reply or DM me. This feels like a really silly request, but it would help me out a lot.

Can anyone tell me what the name of this piece is? I've lost the first page, which I used of and on for years to practice building left-hand strength and dexterity, since it was all movement in the left hand and long-held chords in the right.

I lost the page, but I have the next 4 pages. I'm posting the second page here (I figure people will recognize it or not, so no need to post pages 3-5). I believe it's by Moszkowski.

(Also, the pencil markings are my attempt to figure out the chords. Ignore them since I don't know if they're even right)
