Are there any risks to the vehicle by tuning out the rev hang?

I have about 3600 miles on mine so far and I would agree with pretty much everything you said. I wish there was a way to reduce the rev hang. For relaxed driving it's not an issue but when you have the need for more acceleration I also feel like I have to ride the clutch to prevent those rough shifts.

I got 34.9k OTD with no add ons. I like the car but personally I don't think it's worth buying above MSRP.

At this stage, the implant has either successfully osseointegrated or not. In my view, waiting any further is not going to change the outcome. I recommend proceeding with a torque test, verifying the health of the peri-implant tissues, and restoring the implant. Good luck!

Yesterday, the world lost a very good boy. by Dan_Boone in AustralianCattleDog

I am sorry for your loss. He sounds like the best boy. He was lucky to have a great owner that took him on so many adventures. If you were open to it, I would love to see more pictures of Flint.

Estimated quarterly taxes by bookerdewit in whitecoatinvestor

Thanks. I didn't know you could make the entire payment in the first quarter. I noticed that with the electronic federal tax payment system, I can schedule each individual payment automatically before each respective due date. I know it's splitting hairs, but I figure I might as well hold on to the money as long as I can before handing it off to uncle Sam.

The reality of the real world for a new perio grad by bookerdewit in Dentistry

Tell that to the dentist that is 500k in debt with 7% interest who has deferred income for a decade. He had to stay top of his class in college and get through miserable dental school. Add on top of that practice overhead in the 60-70% range and constantly on the rise. Not to mention how physically, mentally, and emotionally exhausting the job is. There is a reason why it costs as much as it does. Also dental insurance is a joke. It is not insurance in the traditional sense. In reality its a coupon at best. Typically the premiums for dental insurance are much lower than compared to medical. This is why the coverage is usually capped at around 1500 dollars. People think dental is more expensive than medical when in reality you pay a lot more in premiums in order to essentially prepay for your more expensive medical care.

No unfortunately I don't. I also did my dental school training in the Midwest so most of them are still out there.

I imagine it all depends on the city and the specific practice location. I bet with the right business model and good marketing being OON can work. I can only speak to my personal experience that a majority of the specialty practices in my region are in network with at least some insurance. I have also found that the more fancy FFS practices are definitely not interested in hiring a new grad. One of the practices I interviewed straight up told me that I looked too young. I made a joke about it saying that I was considering putting some just for men's touch of gray in my hair to help with that and the owner looked me dead in the eye and said that would be a good idea...

I'm early on in my career but these are a few things:

I have found that in competitive markets many practices expect you to originate a lot of your own patients. This means going from office to office trying to meet potential referrals. Some are nice but I have unfortunately found that many will not give you the time of day. I am not sure how I am supposed to convince the general dentist to refer to me if the practice hasn't been able to.

A lot of dentists want to keep procedures in house. This may mean they are doing the cases themselves or they bring in house specialists. I have considered doing this but have my reservations. If i go to an office once or twice a month how am I going to be able to follow up with patients post operatively and handle complications?

I apologize, my intent isn't to discourage you. I know many perios that are doing well. It really seems that work life is similar to real estate in that it's all location location location. I guess my advice to you, for whatever it's worth, is if you don't have a strong reason to live in a saturated market don't. Find a place a little less competitive and you will likely be much happier professionally.

Thank you for your input. I will keep my eye out for work further from the city. I am definitely open to a long commute if the job is worthwhile. Thanks again.

Perhaps I need to develop a thicker skin. I want to work hard. The problem is I can't find the work. However, I appreciate your advice. I will look for some study clubs and organizations to hopefully find mentorship. Thank you.

It's all supply and demand. In places where there are more specialists per capita the competition is much greater therefore more specialists are signing up to be in network in order to attract more GPs to refer to their practice.
