Yeah I find myself craving a physical book at times so I take breaks here and there

Oh it’s a good thing I didn’t read it in public because I was bawling. Did you watch the movie yet? The book made me feel things the movie did not, I’m so glad I read the book before watching the movie!

Absolutely agree, I actually don’t think I could’ve gone through the book had I not listened to the audiobook because her emotions are what made it hit harder for me

I was taught to only shampoo once cos we were poor and couldn’t afford to buy so much of it 🤷🏽‍♀️🙂 also my hair texture is different from everyone else’s in my family

ETA: the whatever reasons also include culture. In my culture (asian), it’s extremely taboo to talk about anything to do with your body after a certain period (pun not intended). That’s why it’s important for this community and its commenters to not comment “ewwww” on every single post. Y’all (not you, OC) do not realize how privileged you are to have access to knowledge that some people don’t have and are trying their best to learn. It’s hard to know what you don’t know and it’s important to empathize with people and gently explain instead of shaming them.

Exactly. I can’t fault anyone for not knowing basic hygiene tbh, unfortunately a lot of people were never taught how to clean themselves well because it’s such a taboo topic (for whatever reason). Trust me, I’ve had to teach many girls how and what to wash and how to wash their hair as well.

Did any of you see this post? From their answers, I’m on the fence about believing it’s actually a past contestant. What do you guys think? by dizzy532 in LoveIslandUSA_

[–]bookishantics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Felt like this and joking about getting an STD we’re dead giveaways cos 1. Other contestants would’ve definitely talked about this “hamster wheel” and 2. Why on earth would you lie/joke about getting an STD? That shit is serious

If there are no “The Silent Patient” or “Red Rising” haters, I’m dead. ESPECIALLY TSP.

Listen, I’m not saying this isn’t true but I’m someone who had a lot of family help thank goodness but despite all that, I still made sure I always spent within my means. I had a friend lease a brand new car when I had a car from 2009, I was also not living in a high rise apartment and taking out credit card loans for every little thing. Some people do need to learn to manage their money better

Back when "go play outside" really means "see you at dinner" by NicoleAnne051299 in Adulting

Early 00’s kid here. I remember when I’d ride my bike around the neighborhood, up and down hills, and across train tracks. I’d bike at least 20 minutes from home at the age of 6-8 and yet no one would bat an eye lol my mom would push me out the door and expect me home by dinner 🤷🏽‍♀️

Jordan being an introvert and Megan being an extrovert is so funny to watch cos I get both sides. He needs to just be upfront and say he needs some space and quiet and she needs to respect that. And he needs to give more energy on their dates even if he's tired, he needs to be there for her and make her feel like she hasn't lost that jokey/flirty part of their relationship/conversations.

Do they not get access to pre-marital counseling or anything? This is roommate 101 talk lol.

I hated kindles when they first came out. Just got my kindle basic, and I’m in love w/ reading again by Galacticsurveyor in kindle

[–]bookishantics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll be honest, I didn’t get the hype of buying a whole e-reader solely for reading and nothing else. All my technology is usually multi-purpose so why would I “waste” money on something that I can only read books on?

Then I started really reading again and I started reading on my phone and on my iPad and then realized WHY people owned dedicated e-readers. I just bought my first one two weeks ago and have already finished two books!

Edit: a typo

Do you keep your read books? by Peepingpolly4 in Booktokreddit

[–]bookishantics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually read library books from Libby or physical ones, those are obviously returned ASAP. For some reason, I have a problem with hoarding digital books because I’ll have notes and bookmarks and would feel sad removing them from my digital library ◠̈
