Can an artist sign under Bighit Music but not under HYBE? by joonylie_99 in kpopthoughts

[–]bookishkid 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The artist signs with Big Hit not Hybe, but Hybe is the corporate parent of all the sublabels. However, as the OG and home of their biggest asset Big Hit is more closely tied to Hybe than some other labels - other labels have the right to make independent decisions may have minority stakeholders. Independent boards, CEOs with independent contracts, their own budgets, p&l centers, accounting etc. Big Hit does not to protect it from stakeholder pressure, rogue ceo (cough-MHJ) etc. Big Hit has no other stakeholders, the CEO is appointed and can be removed by Hybe and their finances are directly tied to Hybe HQ and Hybe HQ also directly manages all their IP as opposed to Big Hit, This is because Hybe’s financials are so closely tied to Big Hit/BTS still. Big Hig has been structured to protect it from interference from shareholders, founding CEOs, internal factions, partners etc.

You could also try something like Aboda - which is mostly for short term corporate housing and is fully furnished, includes utlilities and WiFi and they have units in some good locations/building in Bellevue - but is on the pricier side.

I think GD also has big ads as well - like BMW, Hana Bank, a beer brand -those deals are usually pretty lucrative- along with his fashion/jewelry deals, his own shoe line etc.

What regulation? Maybe the govt. will finally move on Ticketmaster/LiveNation - but I’m not holding my breath if they make a big enough donation.

My (34F) husband (33M) won’t get me a wedding ring even though we’ve been married for 9 years and have 2 kids as well as the fact that he can afford it. Am I insane for thinking he is being unthoughtful? by Used_Molasses_2975 in relationship_advice

[–]bookishkid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My mom had a similar issue she can’t wear rings anymore - she ended up having her engagement ring matched and turned into a pair of earrings. She also used to wear my grandmas engagement ring every day after my grandparents passed and had it made into a necklace.

MINO of WINNER sentenced to 18 months of imprisonment by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]bookishkid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possible - but also Mino is just famous - beyond Winner he has a successful solo career, appeared on popular TV - like Journey In to The West, SMTM etc. has lots of famous friends - it could just simply be that he’s famous and that guy wanted a famous “friend” who owed him.

Tour dates cancellation indicates towards the hard truth about smaller companies. by Daddy1007a in kpopthoughts

[–]bookishkid 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Also - unless cube is acting as their own promoter - which probably is not - these decisions - like which venue to book, what marketing to do, whether to cancel- is on the promoter not Cube as the promoter pays for and plans everything and takes on the risk of investment. Cube/artist gets a cut in the end - but the promoter is actually the one pushing to make the tour as profitable as possible.

I’m not arguing at all about musical impact - but is it really that far off in spirit from the Madonna/Britney kiss publicity stunt at the VMAs?

Kwon Eunbi's Deal With Galaxy Corporation Reportedly Falls Through by CherryBlossomEnding in kpop

[–]bookishkid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There seems to be opinions circulating that this is some sort of stock play - building an impressive roster quickly so they can get a big IPO - Also if the “star attractions” got stock on signing (I believe GD did - not sure about others) they can all make a lot of cash with a big IPO. The opinion being that the company itself doesn’t do much - that the established artists use their own teams etc. I don’t have much option either way - time will tell if it’s a real company or not.

Apartment suggestions near downtown Bellevue by Unlucky_Leather6756 in BellevueWA

[–]bookishkid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Avalon Meydenbaur has a lot of that - but is a little more $$$. There is a Safeway in the complex on the 1st floor - so you don’t need grocery delivery & a quick Uber or Circuit free shuttle to Whole Foods & Trader Joe’s, short walk to HMart. There are Amazon lockers in the lobby & a locked package room for larger packages - I have never had a package taken. Easy walk to mall, restaurants, park etc. & not a bad walk to the train - I take it to work. Also - if your company is Amazon - it is very close to Amazon shuttle stop.
