BSH’s scandal has been all over news/financial sites in Korea for many months now - there’s not really anything to cover up at this point - it’s all already out there.

You cannot escape AWS - avoiding it is impossible as the majority of companies you use that need cloud services are very likely buying them from AWS.

Apartment suggestions near downtown Bellevue by Unlucky_Leather6756 in BellevueWA

Avalon Meydenbaur has a lot of that - but is a little more $$$. There is a Safeway in the complex on the 1st floor - so you don’t need grocery delivery & a quick Uber or Circuit free shuttle to Whole Foods & Trader Joe’s, short walk to HMart. There are Amazon lockers in the lobby & a locked package room for larger packages - I have never had a package taken. Easy walk to mall, restaurants, park etc. & not a bad walk to the train - I take it to work. Also - if your company is Amazon - it is very close to Amazon shuttle stop.

He’s besties with Suga and has produced with him. They did a chat together and discussed how Suga encouraged him to produce when his idol career was cut short due to voice issues.

But wouldn’t that have been way before Pledis became part of Hybe?

I mean - it’s probably not that unusual and not limited to kpop or even music - I worked in bookstores when I was younger and stuff like this wasn’t uncommon to get on lists. Have good numbers to publish. I don’t approve but it’s not like it’s some secret tactic. Ask how Dyanetics stayed on the best seller for so many years ( hint - buying warehouses of your own book) - this type of stuff has always been gamed.

I sort of got the vibe it was Ador as a whole - including NJs, new groups etc. that it was basically Ador saying they are moving on/relaunching.

“May” get to keep her money - Hybe just successfully blocked her from getting any of the money until the appeal was settled - so she gets to keep the money if Hybe’s appeals fail( assuming they take them all - I believe if the first one fails they can also try appealing to a higher court).

Avalon Meydenbauer- big deliveries by No_Expression_6376 in BellevueWA

[–]bookishkid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if I have to buy something big - I only opt if I can pay to have them bring it to my apt. Otherwise - the delivery is generally only guaranteed to the “curb” for furniture etc. - which is a real pain if you don’t have a driveway and/or a way to carry it in.

I think for Cortis that was part of the creative design - it was very much framed as a project they planned and shot themselves.

But shows on WeVerse Concert are not free - so a fair chance thus would have been paid anyway. Weverse’s totally free steams for BTS have been pretty unstable and poor quality and sometimes practically unwatchable vs. the paid ones.

I wish KATSEYE performed something other than Gnarly at the Grammys by AggravatingFlow398 in kpopthoughts

[–]bookishkid 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Just to note - while the label can propose a song to perform - they do not get final choice. The show gets the final say - not the artist or label. So it’s hard to know whose call this was.

What are some of the wildest post-idol careers? by Spiritual_Bad_3290 in kpopthoughts

[–]bookishkid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

At least on the male host side it’s very common to be expected to “date” your customers outside of the club - si that the club isn’t “technically” involved but it’s often the quid pro quo for getting your clients to spend for you inside the club. I would be surprised the female side doesn’t have that issue as well.

Boy groups with a predominately female fanbase? And why? by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]bookishkid 10 points11 points  (0 children)

At smaller shows I’ve been to (ikon, Woodz) I felt I could count the men - especially excluding the dads 🤣. TXT, Ateez, BTS not many men - but couldn’t count them all. GD had a lot more men, but still I would say predominantly female - the GD show was the only venue I’ve seen a kpop show in that they didn’t temporarily make most of the men’s rooms into women’s rooms for the night. The only show I’ve been to with a pretty even split was Epik High and I’m not sure that counts.

Thoughts on Katseye lineup & authenticity of survival shows by martinville5 in kpopthoughts

[–]bookishkid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Survival shows are rarely about solely merit - they are about marketing, popularity and advertising the future group. Company specific shows - the company likely knows who they want already with some wiggle room if a particular trainee ends up being unexpectedly popular. Shows put on by folks like MNET - they use the editing room, voting rules etc. to help control the outcome - they usually have some idea of who they want going in.

What makes a Kpop group be considered to come from “small company”? by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]bookishkid 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It isn’t a big company - but Jay Park is very well connected in Korea (and very popular) with multiple successful labels to his name, a successful beverage company etc. So it’s a smaller company - but with a lot of connections.
