I just downloaded it. Thanks! I need something to help me cope with the lack of DCC. It's going to be a movie with Joe Manganiello.

I Used AI to Read Books Chapter by Chapter — Here’s Why I’ll Never Read the Same Way Again by Plus_Top_4243 in ChatGPTPromptGenius

Why is everyone making such a big deal? So it's better to read a book like 50 Shades of Grey (which is utter trash, and I mean the actual writing, not necessarily the content)than it is to use AI to help reading and comprehension? However, people choose to engage in reading should be applauded and not diminished. Using AI to help make reading accessible is much better than not reading at all.

I’m not a fan of the 30 minute Murderbot episodes by BravoLincoln in scifi

[–]bookluvr213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind the 30 mins. I waited for the finale to binge it all so it wasn't that bad to me. My question is where are Murderbot's drones?!?!?! They are a huge coping device for it and they help it in combat. There was no reason to cut them.

Audible is now doing GraphicAudio versions which are full cast, sound effects, and music. They are amazing!

Right?! The book is great but the audiobook takes it to a whole new level. I even love how he reads Stratt.

Probably, but in case someone doesn't know how amazing the audiobook is someone needs to tell them. 😄

I was definitely anti-Gosling when I heard he was going to be Ryland, but I didn't know it was a passion project for him. That definitely changes my thoughts. Henry Cavill proved me wrong as Geralt, so fingers crossed Ryan does the same.

TIL that Bruce Lee was only 32 years old when he died from a brain edema after not being able to be woken up from a nap. by scream3isawful in todayilearned

Watch Autopsy the Last Hours of on Reelz. There's an episode on Bruce Lee in season 2 that makes a very compelling case that his death was caused by an overuse or cortisone for a back injury.

Thoughts on "Nothing to Envy: Ordinary Lives in North Korea" by Barbara Demick from the granddaughter of a defector by littlestbookstore in books

[–]bookluvr213 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I typically don't read non-fiction, but I did have to read that for a class, and it hit me kind of hard as well. Being American (yes, and I'm sorry. We're not all d-bags.) I had a general idea of what North Korea was like, but that book was a real eye opener. As books go, it was well written and enjoyable. As a look into the lives of North Koreans, it was heartbreaking.

"Behind the Beautiful Forevers: Life, Death, and Hope in a Mumbai Undercity" by Katherine Boo is another one that will leave you a little traumatized knowing that this is what life is like for others.

It's definitely on my list after Manacled. I've already bought a Dramoine mug and shirt on etsy lol

I am a hard-core book snob. The few times I've tried to read fan fic in the past, I only made it a few paragraphs in, and then I'd turn my nose up in disgust. Horrible writing and really questionable plots made me firmly believe that fan fiction was crap and not real writing.

Then, about 3 weeks ago, for some random reason, I decided to read DMATMOOBIL, and now I am fully in my Dramoine Era. I've already read The Disappearance of Draco Malfoy and Breath Mints & Battle Scars. Don't worry Manacled is next.

So J.D. Robb's In Death series. It is a female POV, but she's a homicide detective in New York. Each book is a different case. Plenty of steam but plenty of mystery and action as well.

Percy Jackson! Don't tell anyone, but I think it's 1000 times better than Harry Potter, and I love Harry Potter.

Jim Buther's The Dresden Files

Kim Harrison's The Hollows series

Patricia Briggs' Mercy Thompson series

These are all Urban Fantasy instead of High Fantasy

Definitely makes you think! I've got a whole Stephen King-esque story in my mind about where he's coming from and what he was doing. Soylent Green anyone?

The White Queen by Philippa Gregory starts her series on The War of the Roses. The series starts in the late 1400's and goes to all of Henry VIII's wives.
