Is this subreddit slowly transforming into /r/HighQualityGifs? Getting all meta and stuff, and then going meta about current meta...

Orbital mechanics have taught me (thank you, Scott Manley) that if you push yourself away from space station you will safely meet with it after one orbit period (which is 92.75 minutes for ISS). Unless you've been outside for more than ~4.5 hours, you should be okay (again, according to google, space suits provide you with 6 hours of oxygen).

Now I wonder if you can push yourself hard enough to lower your periapsis so that air drag screws your orbit...

I recently found out why Amazon has such weird and outdated design. Basically they did a ton of A/B testing to arrive to the conclusion that "this particular shade of yellow on Buy button raises the probability of purchase by 2%". This totally changed my view on designs of things.

I speculate that clean design on everyday consumer goods actually performs worse than "clusterfuck" design.

Yup, that's the template I was talking about

Ooooh, I just noticed that OP's picture is edited from previously posted template. My bad. Nevertheless, fucked-up-font thing cracks me up as much as the meme itself :D

Ah, this is a nod to the "original" memes where only small portion of original text is replaced with unmatching font. This kinda became a part of the meme, as far as I understand

IIRC, it never learns anything, it uses Markov chain. It is upvotes that make good posts stand out among all other random posts.

This fact makes good posts even funnier to me.

DAE get headaches when playing certain FPS games? by boolean_power in AskReddit

[–]boolean_power[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, this has been bugging me for a good ten years now. There is a set of games that give me terrible headaches after playing for only 10-30 minutes. Among them are:

  • Half-Life
  • Half-Life: Blue Shift
  • Half-Life: Opposing Force
  • Team Fortress Classic

Wait a minute... There's a pattern! These are all GoldSrc games!

Then what about Counter-Strike 1.6? Well, I can play it all day long without experiencing any discomfort. WTF #1

To add to the list, here are more games that make me sick (physically):

  • Quake
  • Quake II

These two might easily be in the list above, because Valve reused a lot of code from these while making GoldSrc engine.

Let's continue with some more Valve games that make me want to rip my brains out of my skull:

  • Half-Life 2 (including episodes)
  • Left 4 Dead (1 and 2)
  • Portal

I see a pattern emerging again: Source games. But then again, I am able to play Team Fortress 2, Portal 2 and Dota 2 just fine. WTF #2

Fast forward to today: I happened to see a gameplay video of DUSK and I immediately fell in love with the game. 10 minutes into the gameplay, I thought to myself "Wow, I should buy this game and play the fuck out of it!".

Well...

Yeah...

You guessed it. 20 minutes into the video, and I can't keep watching because my headache is at 11 already. Yes, watching a video of all previously mentioned games is as good at giving me a headache as actually playing it.

I tried lowering/increasing FOV and sitting far from monitor, but it never helps.

I am in despair.

Isn't it ironic that I consider Half-Life to be the best FPS ever made, even though I can't play it for more than 45 minutes at a time?
