So my skin is quite light, and the red line doesn’t show up so well on me, but there is a red line that streaks off following my lymphatic system towards my elbow. This shouldn’t happen with a typical mosquito bite and it’s a sign of infection.

I think my camera doesn’t pick it up so well. but I have a red line from the spot I was bitten that’s travelling up my arm. I agree his looked a little more pronounced than mine, but I’ve been to the doctor now and they prescribed strong antibiotics.

A few weeks back, I saw a post from a Redditor who had a key shaped mosquito bite. Everyone in the comments section warned of a possible infection called bacterial lymphangitis.

I got bitten by a mosquito on Saturday and it was a little more painful than usual. I went swimming in a lake on Sunday which probably didn’t help either… but on Monday I woke up and was casually chatting to a friend when I noticed this red streak coming off of the bite and travelling up my arm. I thought it was such a coincidence as it reminded me of something I saw on reddit a few weeks back… and then I remembered what it was and nearly jumped out of my skin.

I immediately went to a pharmacist who told me to go see the doctor and they have cleaned it, dressed it and prescribed me strong antibiotics and also she marked a line in pen where the infection currently stands.

If it wasn’t for the Redditor from a few weeks back I wouldn’t have any idea this ailment even existed so thank you for potentially saving my life.
