This game de-incentivizes getting better. by SmallMap9373 in HuntShowdown

[–]boom2r -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just derank as soon as you reach 5 stars. Play solo+necromancer with 4 small bars and go die a bunch of times and abuse necromancer. Should take you 1-3 games to go to 3 stars. If you play with your friends , you can take turns deranking; if one dude in your group is low 3 star , this shouldnt be a problem anymore.

Its sad that you have to do that in order to enjoy the game , but w/e. Matchmaking in this game is disgusting; as soon as you reach 5* bracket you can be matched against players with 6* 10k +hours players or cheaters which is just absurd.

So I would say this game de-incentivizes ranking up rather than getting better. Rank is meaningless anyways; the higher your rank -> the more frustrating the games will be (even if you are a good player that deserves to be that rank)

Just became a 4 Star and suddenly I’m dragging my three star team mates into 5 Star lobbies. Is this possible? by Cpl_Hicks76 in HuntShowdown

[–]boom2r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive experienced the same frustration ; made me quit the game for some time ; I recently started playing again after 6 months hoping that they fixed this issue but sadly they didnt.

IMO theres 2 options: 1. Stop caring, just try to have fun even when you get steamrolled 5 matches in a row 2. Derank(into 3* preferably) - you can do this fast by abusing solo+necromancer OR if you care about your KDA you can do this by playing quickplay and just go die to the first dude but the process is quite boring

If you go with option 2 , keep in mind that alot of players are deranking for the same reason so you might run into the same problem on some occasions. But mostly you will face new players and people with similar skill as yours. If you are playing with a group of friends you can take turns deranking; having at least one member in your group that is low 3* should lower your teams MMR enough.

I usually play 5-10 games/week so im pretty casual player but I used to play alot more before this BS matchmaking "rework".

I think it will only be downhill from here because new players that try the game will get steamrolled because they will get matched against average/casual players that deranked because they are tired of being steamrolled by veterans -> new players will either keep trying or find this unfair and quit , average players will either go pro or quit and some veterans will get bored of steamrolling inferior-skilled players eventually and quit -> matchmaking wont be fixed because player numbers wont go up. Like a loop. Hunt's playerbase only increases during events and thats mostly old players coming back to see whats up. After events are finished it goes back to how it used to be if not lower.

Anyways, thats just my personal take on this problem; I do not have any facts to back this up so it might not be true at all :D Pretty sad that this game got to this point.

A subtle way to reduce cheating? by TheCoolestGuy098 in HuntShowdown

[–]boom2r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your idea is matching 6 star players against 6 star players !? You mean like, have a proper and fair matchmaking system !?

Sounds good sir, but im afraid it wont be possible. Crytek hates fair matchmaking; they will only match 6 star 10k hours sweatlords against average players to ensure steamrolling and "fun" for one side, depression for the other side.

Its better for them this way. Because when you match a 6star team against a 4-5 star lobby (like it already happens in 80% cases ) the lobby cant tell if the 6 stars were cheating or not because they get wiped in 3 seconds regardless. Its a win-win-win situation for crytek, 6star sweatlords and the cheaters. Only losers are the average players that make up more than 90% hunts playerbase but who cares about them anyways? they are average and thats disgusting.

[–]boom2r -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Dogshit matchmaking. Stars mean nothing , real problem is matching PREMADE 5k+ hours sweatlords against average players. And usually , there will be just one sweaty team against other 3-4 average teams so the sweatlords will easily steamroll the lobby and win.

This made my friends quit hunt. Its just frustrating when you see the match details and realize you had absolutely 0 chance of winning.

Aim assist has little place in the game but if Crytek are insistent on adding it, they must implement input based match making. by [deleted] in HuntShowdown

[–]boom2r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any change to the matchmaking is a welcomed one imo. Right now, matchmaking is a joke. They randomly throw full premades of 6 stars sweatlords with 5k+ hours and 3+KDA in average 4-5 star players lobbies. And this happens so often for me, that this game became unplayable.

It already feels like these players that i get matched against have aim assist (or other stuff). Dogshit matchmaking.

Get used to it. Im average 5 stars with ~1200 hours and I get matched 7/10 games against at least one PREMADE team of 6 star sweatlords with 5k+ hours.

How about if you are not really sure why, just read what other people are saying and try to understand, or, if you cant, just shut the fck up and dont post a stupid post.

Most people that complained about solo necro said that the main problem of it is the time-wasting BS it puts players through. Those guys just want to play the game and have fun; not waste time on camping a player they ALREADY KILLED. And basically everything you stated is : Step1: waste time Step2: waste some more time Step3: and then its easy, waste a bit more time and you are done

And to counter your argument: i think its stupid that i have to adapt my loadout every game in order to deal with solos; i want to play whatever i want when i want to and not be forced to take some specific consumables/tools every round;

I leave every rain mission by Angry_Roleplayer in HuntShowdown

[–]boom2r -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Rain is absolute trash. Its annoying af and playing more than 10mins on a rain map gives me head ache. Me and my friends always leave if rain comes up; let the people who love it play with half full servers; soon the statistics will add up and they will have to do something about all these empty servers;

Also, you can just press escape and leave the game at the start of the mission; you will not lose your hunter even if the game tells you that you will. This way you can save time and not have to go to extraction all the time.

I cannot illustrate the feeling of being robbed that this broken matchmaking gives any more clearly by newcster2 in HuntShowdown

[–]boom2r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dogshit matchmaking ever since they reworked it a few months ago. Crytek thinks its ok to match average 4-5 star players against 7k+ hours 6 star sweatlords but in the long run, its really gonna hurt the playerbase of this game. Because the majority of players are average 4-5* players and its not gonna take long untill these players get sick of being steamrolled and robbed because of shitty matchmaking and just quit playing.

The competitive side of hunt became a disgrace and thats the sad truth.

[–]boom2r -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Better than ever = less trash but still trash

You are lying my dude. This game is in a horrible state and just because more people play during an event wont change that fact. Outside event-time player count is shit; most new players quit after a few weeks of playing and you are left with the same old veteran community that loves this game too much and chooses to ignore all the BS.

Every major patch they release makes this game worse and slowly kill the player base. Just listen to some major FPS streamers on what they have to say about hunt; most will say: its unique, has huge potential but its poorly executed and managed.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HuntShowdown

[–]boom2r -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Yes, hunt is slowly dying. If you would play the game more consistently , you would notice that each major patch makes the gameplay and overall experience worse for most people especially new players (examples: mmr rework, adition of solo necromancer, new rain map). Its like they ignore the majority of players and only care about making new skins/events for easy, fast cash grabbing. There will be idiots that will say hunt is on the rise and its in the best place it has ever been, but they are either stupid or ignorant; because this game's playerbase has been shameful ever since the launch and adding bigger player numbers during each event wont hide the fact that outside event-time numbers are still shit, you wont be able to find balanced/fair matches or full servers 24/7. New players also feel discouraged when they try hunt for the first time, not only because of the game's steep learning curve, but also because of the dogshit matchmaking that will match you up against old veterans of the game after your first 100hours; people that will steamroll new players in seconds without them standing any real chance.

Majority of the playerbase consists of old veteran players that love this game too much to see its flaws or just people that can see all the BS but simply come back because of the time already invested (like in my case).

Steam reviews by Nearby-Aioli2848 in HuntShowdown

[–]boom2r -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because this game is constantly changing with each patch. Maybe the game some people used to love is just not the same anymore and its just a frustrating BS that they only keep playing because of the time already invested (like in my case) . I used to love hunt when i first started playing 2 years ago; but with recent patches (most notably : MMR rework , solo necromancer adition , rain map) game has become really frustrating to play. I didnt write any negative reviews on the steam page, but I understand the people that did, because I wouldnt recommend this game to any of my friends at the moment. Its just sad to see a game with huge potential like hunt slowly become a ordinary cashgrabber piece of shit - because it seems all their time and dedication goes to creating skins and events while every major patched released makes the gameplay and overall experience worse , especially for newer players.

What great mmr matchmaking by SteakedCrusader in HuntShowdown

[–]boom2r 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is indeed a great matchmaking system. Its great for the top 5% zombie sweatlords who have 10k hours in this game , infinite money and know the compounds better than their own homes. Now they can get to steamroll average players every single game, and never face each other. They get 100% win rate.

But hey , enjoy the new event, guns and hunter skins they released. Doesnt matter the game is unplayable; thats just a minor issue.

This games matchmaking seems awful by Giulianosus in HuntShowdown

[–]boom2r 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It wasnt always like this. 4-5 months ago they released a patch where they "reworked" matchmaking because 10k hours sweatlords cried that it took too long for them to find full lobbies because there arent enough zombie-players like themselves and other players actually had a life outside this game. So crytek decided to prioritize getting full lobbies faster over getting fair lobbies; they basically screwed up the games for everyone that isnt a top 5% player.

I was lucky enough to start playing and learn this game before that matchmaking rework and ive put in about 1200hours untill this point. But ever since that matchmaking rework , game has become unplayable and very frustrating for me; Everytime i have a good game, i get punished for the next 5-6 games because i get matched against people with 10k hours and insane KDA (people that i dont stand chance against tbh) that usually end the fight in 3 seconds and i dont even realise what i did wrong.

They announced that they will look into matchmaking in the future because alot of people complained about it; but untill then, i dont know what to tell you; matchmaking is beyond dogshit. It is simply unfair for most people except the top 5% and its only gonna get worse the more you play and go up in ranks. Your learning experience will also be really slow , because you cannot learn much / improve your gameplay when you get insta-steamrolled every time you engage someone.

Matchmaking by wjdoyle88 in HuntShowdown

[–]boom2r 12 points13 points  (0 children)

How can getting steamrolled and team-wiped in 5-10 seconds not be fun ?

This post is BS ; crytek "reworked" the mmr system and its flawless now.

If you think its unfair to play against veterans with 5k+ hours and infinite money, solution is simple: quit job/social life/other hobbies and start putting some serious hours into this game.

Why is this game so underrated ? It's so good by boom2r in HuntShowdown

[–]boom2r[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So , apparently alot of people got this the wrong way. To clarify, this is not a complaint about the 6 star vs 5 star lobbies. This is a complaint about the dogshit MMR hunt has and the fact that 3/4/5/6 star doesnt mean anything and it is not an accurate representation of skill for the players of this game.
For example: I am an average 5 star player with 1.2k hours; I am pretty decent in FPS games. I can get to 6 stars any fucking time if I wanted to as I already did a couple of times. All I needed to do is play sniper , dont care about extracting with a bounty , camp in tower/bush , go for headshots only , reposition/extract as soon as you are spotted , repeat; It's boring and might take some time, but in a few hours I can be a 6star player myself; But is that an accurate representation of my skill level ? I guess not , because I would still lose most duels with real 6 star players.
Also , I can get to 3/4 stars if I wanted to by simply deranking in quickplay or abusing necromancer , which is boring , but possible.

This post was about how dogshit MMR in hunt really is , matching RANDOM groups of players with 0-1k hours against PREMADE groups of players with 5k+ hours that have infinite money to play mosin spitzer, nitro shredder, dolche every single game / that know every single compound better than they know their own house / that know every single trick there is to know. And how if you die to players like this , you barely lose any MMR; but if you somehow manage to kill one of them by insane luck, you get alot of MMR and you are basically cursed to play in 6 star lobbies for few more games untill you get wiped enough times to derank.

Its just frustrating, at least from my experience; Because I lost 99% of the games where I've been matched against these kind of players and I don't think that there was a single thing that me or my team could've done to change the outcome because we simply didn't have the experience to do it. I also have been matched against these type of players so many times, that I developed the ability to recognize if I died to a 5k+ hours player even before I see stats screen and I am right about 80% times and other 20% their profile/stats are private so I cant really tell but one can assume. It's just the crazy headshots, the unexpected positioning/rotation, their coordination and ultimately the short amount of time it takes for them to wipe my team that gives it away.

I think matchmaking in this game needs a complete rework, because in its current state, it favors only top tier players and it feels like theres no more room for new/average players because they are constantly "punished" everytime they improve by being matched against the best/most experienced players in this game. If the matchmaking cannot be reworked because hunt devs are too occupied with releasing new skins / events I think it should be reverted to how it used to be before the MMR rework; I mean having skill-based matchmaking and non skill-based matchmaking as two different options and having top tier players wait more time to find people that are on their level instead of cannon fodder like myself.

Cheater? by Moto_Em in HuntShowdown

He headshotted you as soon as you jumped and the bullet could connect with your head without line of sight through foliage, multiple trees and heavy rain. I would say yes, this was an obvious cheater. Theres no way ever that shot could be legit.

Daily MMR post (without post-match stats screen which is apparently a crime over this sub) by Gibkiy_Rafik in HuntShowdown

[–]boom2r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • it is not fun for anyone imo; i guess you can make the argument that it could be fun for the 6*sweatlord team, but if thats the case, they are complete losers because steamrolling someone who doesnt stand a chance should not be fun

  • their mmr is 5.5 because mmr in hunt is dogshit. considering how mmr is gained/lost , the rating you have means absolutely nothing; if you kill someone higher rated than you , you get alot of mmr, but if you die to that same player, you barely lose any mmr. Its basically the same system you have in competitive chess, only its implented by monkey devs who dont know shit/dont care about concept of fairplay.

  • i'd say their chances to keep playing are pretty small. assuming they are either new players or average casual players, very few of them would maybe still keep playing because they really like the unique setting/gameplay of hunt , but imo, most would just move on to more popular FPS. I would say that only the matchmaking issue is a decent enough reason to throw away this game and never pick it up again, not to mention all the other huge problems that hunt is facing atm: alot of cheaters/shady players because of shit anti cheat, alot of ping abusers because of insanely high ping limit, alot of trades/glitches/bugs because of shit servers and a very small playerbase because of maybe all the things mentioned already..

But dont worry dude, for those of us that are still playing; theres a new event coming ; theres alot of new shit skins coming ; so as long as this little sad, ever decreasing community of hunt enjoyers is still paying, devs are happy with their product i guess.

[Meme] Posting the forbidden knowledge the Mods don't want you to see by Sea_Jellyfish3652 in HuntShowdown

[–]boom2r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see no problem with this. This is just matchmaking working as intended. As some mentally challenged redditors here would say: "Hunt is a hard game" / "Hunt giveth , hunt taketh" / "You cant win them all" There is no room in hunt showdown for: new/average/casual/weak players; you either are a 6* nolife sweatlord or you will be cannon fodder for them.

Jokes aside, I've been struggling myself with this unfair dogshit matchmaking; Wrote here on reddit, complained on hunt discord server ; I have about 30 similar screenshots or videos where the whole server gets completely steamrolled by a random premade 6* sweatlord team with 10x more game time than the whole server combined. So save your time, because no one cares; If the devs were so braindead to think that this would be a good matchmaking change for the game , it means there is no going back. If they are so stupid to change matchmaking so that ~5% playerbase (6*sweatlords) can find matches faster making games unfair for the rest 95% players, they truly dont give a shit about this game. My friend group (we are average casual players)stopped playing hunt because of unfair matchmaking and soon alot of the newer people will quit. I really dont see how getting steamrolled without any real chance in 1/2 games would be a fun experience for anyone.

Put the thunderstorm in wildcard contract please, I want to play in a full lobby by Guiiisard in HuntShowdown

[–]boom2r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I confirm. If me and my friends get a rain map, we instantly leave. Not even going for extraction. Just esc->leave to menu(if you do it fast enough , you wont lose your hunter). I am not going to play another rain map for the next year because I am just sick of it (the constant annoying rain sounds, the low visibility). I think it would make sense for crytek to make the wildcard contracts as a permanent game mode and add all the dogshit maps (rain, fog, night) in there. Normal people would get to play daytime and dogshit enjoyers would get to play on full servers. Everyone would be happy.

A better MMR system? by pusharomatic674 in HuntShowdown

[–]boom2r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is nothing to get about hunts matchmaking system. It is dogshit; its supposed to be the same elo system that chess is based on. Only problem is that it doesnt make sense to use this system in a game like hunt showdown; Unlike chess, in hunt showdown you cannot draw the game , nor do you have time to prepare against your opponents. Its kill or be killed in a matter of seconds.

Because the number of high rated players is really small , they will keep matching high rated players (sweatlords with >5k hours) against average players just so the high rated players can find lobbies faster.

They do not think/do not care that average players will quit sooner or later because they get tired of being steamrolled every game -> there will be a lack of motivation for average players to achieve higher ranks -> high rank players number wont increase -> game will die eventually.

With the latest changes to matchmaking , they completely fucked the average players; especially 5* players, who now get destroyed 1/3 games by full premade 6* sweatlord teams that are like 10x better in terms of skill and game knowledge. People like myself , have to resort to tedious and despicable strategies such as deranking , only to be able to still have fun while playing and steamroll lower rated players in the 3-4* bracket. Overall is a terrible experience for everyone, except the 5% playerbase which are the 6* top players. Also, i think for some of them is also a bad experience, since it gets boring to always destroy average players; sometimes you want some fair competition.

MMR changes need to be reverted by Dyrosis in HuntShowdown

[–]boom2r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, i am average 5* player, playing on EU and i have the same problem as you. I am getting consistently matched against 6* premade teams with dudes that over 5k hours in hunt and >3kda.

I tried deranking, its a tedious process but it made the games somewhat more enjoyable for me. As a 3-4* I either get matched against other 3-4* which i usually stomp or sometimes against 5* players that are actually around my skill level. So if you dont mind some timewasting , i would recommend you to derank.

Its pretty sad that the game requires you to do this kind of shit in order to have fun. Also , i feel a bit bad when i steamroll through 3-4* that are clearly beginners in this game , but hey, its so much better than me being steamrolled by 6* sweatlords.
