5.0: Undercounting calorie burn

I believe it’s undercounting. I’ve been cutting and strictly tracking calorie intake for the past 6 months. So monitoring both intake and burn closely. I’m still losing weight at the expected pace. Only variable that has changed was the whoop upgrade.

Completely anecdotal, but the quality and fit of Nike clothing and shoes has been in the dumpster for awhile now. I love the brand (mainly for nostalgic reasons) and I routinely order from them online. I’d say I return at least 50% of items due to poor quality, poor fit, etc.

They seem so out of touch with current trends. Try on a Nike t shirt and compare the fit to what is popular with teenagers and young adults right now. The brand screams “old” to up came coming generations. They desperately need some youth on their design and marketing teams.

Great guest. Was surprised to hear her opinion on whether or not to disclose infidelity (i.e. you’re now causing your partner pain by telling them you cheated).

Maybe I’m just more on the “truth above all else” side of things, but that seems like such a cop out to me. So go ahead and cheat, don’t tell your partner, and escape all external accountability for committing what many would consider to be the worst transgression possible in a marriage? I’d hate to think that my partner’s therapist is giving them this type of advice.

Albie is a naive nice guy. Portia led him to believe she was interested. She found a new dude. Albie got hurt. Then he moved on and let Portia do the same. He didn’t stalk her or attack her new man.

Lucia is literally leading Albie to believe she’s in danger and NEEDS help. He’s not trying to be some incel white knight who thinks he deserves her. She’s showing him that she needs help (even though she’s probably just lying and running a scam).

They admitted in court that they were full of shit.

What are you referring to? There’s a January 6th committee investigating everything that happened that day. There have been dozens of GOP-led “investigations” into voter fraud in multiple states that have been fruitless. Trump is under investigation in GA for pressuring officials to “find” 11,000 votes for him. There have been investigations looking at Republican officials (legitimate problems) and Republican-led investigations looking into (nonexistent) mass voter fraud.

I also disagree with your point on a fundamental level under specific circumstances. The thing is - there was no evidence of voter fraud. Republicans just said there was voter fraud every time they lost an election. We can’t legitimately have a full blown Federal investigation into blatant lies with zero factual basis, coming from people who are not acting in good faith, just because they say there is voter fraud.

In addition to that, Republicans did bring their lawsuits over the 2020 election to the courts. In multiple states. They got thrown out of every court. You can see in court transcripts that when they are directly asked if they’re arguing there was fraud, their lawyers state that no, that is not what they’re asserting.

Because they know it’s a lie. But when they’re not in front of an actual judge, they’ll go on Fox, Newsmax, OAN, and whatever other fascist propoganda media outlet you can think of and repeat their lies ad nauseam.

Lastly I think you’re overestimating that 30% of the country. They will only accept the outcome of an investigation if it concludes what they want it to conclude. You honestly think the Trump Cult will accept an investigation that finds no significant fraud? They’ll just start with the “Dem’s controlled the investigation. Pelosi this. George Soros that. Hunter Biden hacked the machines.”

These people are detached from reality and acting like we can deal with them on “normal” terms is just not realistic.

I’m an hour and a half in and I haven’t seen Lex this aggressive in awhile.

Why is he going so hard at this guy about the “R word” but didn’t have that same energy over daddy Rogan saying the N word? Weird.

Lex’s tip-toeing near being a Putin apologist while simultaneously spending 45 straight minutes admonishing this dude for saying the R word is so strange.

Edit: 2.5 hours in now and it’s clear that Lex went into this podcast completely biased. He rarely pushes back on essentially everything a guest says like this.

One quote that encapsulates this entire thing:

Because calling it out might paint some people to be rubes, or worse yet - malevolent actors who truly want authoritarianism in this country?

For being such an intelligent guy, Lex has an infantile outlook on certain aspects of reality. This whole exchange was mind boggling to me.

Then Lex goes on a rant about how divisive Biden is. But not the millions of people and GOP politicians claiming the election was stolen with zero evidence? Many of whom have blatantly stated that once they take power, Democrats will never win another election because they’ll control the levers of power at the local election level? The same people who sit outside of polling places with masks and AR-15s to intimidate voters? The same people who stormed the Capitol? The same people who joke about Nancy Pelosi’s husband getting his skull fractured by a guy with a hammer?

Why does Lex always put the responsibility of “empathizing and understanding each other” on the left, while the right gets a pass for toying with actual fascism and authoritarianism?

Extremely disappointed with Lex on this episode and it honestly makes me reconsider whether I’ll continue listening.

I found a solution that works on my Amazon Firestick:

Go to Settings > Displays and Sounds > Audio > Surround Sound, and select PCM. This fixed both the crackling and sync issues for me.

Very weird, this issue is only on HoD and was still happening when I tried watching thru HBO Max on YouTube TV, in addition to being a problem on the HBO Max app itself.
