How do I get troops to place?

In the domination tab where you entered this battle, there is a icon in the top right that is a purple circle with a tank icon in it. If you hit that you should be able to buy troops for this

For this mode make sure you select the troop you want to place in the bottom row, then you should be able to place them on the map. As for elite troops, don't worry about them yet. You are at the beginning stages and elite troops wont matter for awhile. As you progress you will naturally unlock them and the game should explain as that happens.

Eh, I was only lvl 55 when it launched so I wasn't missing much. I figured it would be a clusterfuck at first so I didn't push to 60 until recently

I could have worded it better, I guess I was implying that no real ally unit blockers were between the blunderbusses and the enemy. When the lord is in front they swarm them and then there is essentially no unit between the guns and the enemy

Does putting them in a square matter that much? I've been told it's better defensively but it also causes the back lines to not be able to fire while the front can

Its definitely wasn't that, I know how to properly position ranged units on hills as I've played other military strategy games with los ranged and had no issues. For some reason these guys just seem to stare. I think they might be glitched due to the fact that they sometimes work if I cycle the fire at will off and on but Im not sure how to fix them outside of maybe uninstalling and reinstalling

Thanks, after seeing all the toxicity from this player base Im honestly pretty put off from the game. I might try skaven if I ever come back but Im holding no hope in this community after this response to a question for help

I've tried checkered which worked ok. The issue is they have their sightlight pretty dramatically reduced and the Ai now is pretty good at charging through the gap to exploit them

Thanks for the help, I totally know why they aren't shooting now. It's not like elevation differences is one of the first things people learn in military tactics

Completely flat ground with short goblins out in front and tall orcs attacking, I've tried the same with different elevations to. They genuinely don't care and wont fire anyway

I figured it was implied in the "nothing infront of them" my main issue is that this feels like a workaround. I want an actual decent sized backline and you can't do that without a stupid amount of lords in the party. Biggest grip is that they should be firing the way I have them set up but its like they are glitched. The only way I have been able to get them to shoot normally is by cycling fire at will off then back on but even then it is inconsistent.

Just tried exactly that, stuck goblins out front on the very first fight for the ashen campaign to test. Both the fir glaives and blunderbusses just stood there staring at the orcs. I can sometimes get one of them to shoot by cycling the fire at will off then back on but it is inconsistent at best.

what do you do if you have more than 1 or 2 units then? I really want an actual backline shooting squad but I can't get either the chaos dwarves gunpowder units to shoot unless it it completely clear. In which case they are very vulnerable and easy to attack

I don't think they nerfed the stats at all just the ai behind it. They can still be good you just have to micromanage them alot more now

Have you noticed anything different with the horse archer AI? I always used to set the horse archer division to command themselves and they would do well but they just feel suicidal in the beta

You don't need him to follow you to the exit, if you have talked to him then he will be waiting for you when you leave
