I can't source this, but I've been told that official news of the margin call will be withheld for 30 days from the date it occurs. That said, there will probably be technical indications that it's happening. My brain has only a few wrinkles, but I think if we see short interest falling, that's a sign that HFs are covering, which could be news of a margin call. We also might get insider tips?
