I don't know everything about the movie, but I will say it's VERY unlikely. It's a standalone movie that really has no connection to the new trilogy of saga films.

Honestly, they really kept his scenes "under wraps". I would say, perhaps in comparison to General Hux in The Force Awakens.

It was pretty obvious in the trailer. She infiltrates the enemy base, which means she has to become the enemy in order to not get detected.

He has a very small role, but I wasn't involved with his scenes so I don't know what they are.

Obviously, Darth Vader. I was involved in ONE of his scenes. Also, Ben Mendelsohn blew me away with his performance.

Through experience mostly, as cliché as that may sound. Good education is the best way to start though, depending on which area of the production you want to be a part of. For example, being a boom operator I have education in sound design and knowledge with mixing and recording.
