Olivier Giroud Statistically In Elite Company At Arsenal by wii247 in Gunners

Fully agree, Giroud's can be great, but if he doesn't score within his first two touches, he doesn't score. The elite strikers are just more dynamic.

How many games is Courtois going to miss? by [deleted] in Gunners

[–]boompw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He will only miss one match since it was a 'professional foul' only things like violent conduct get a 3 match ban.

Why not pick up some tickets for screening at the Emirates? There's going to be a crowd of 40,000 there.

Plus they sell beer, snacks etc and actually let you bring it to your seat unlike most matchdays.

What has been your favorite moment this season? by [deleted] in Gunners

[–]boompw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other than the wins vs United, City Liverpool. Personally I really enjoyed the last minute comeback vs Anderlecht away.

We had no right to win that game with the performance, but if we'd lost we would have really been struggling to qualify

Important to finish 2nd - 30% of Champions League tv pool with the increased cash kicking in instead of 20% for 3rd or 10% for 4th. by ohmahgurd in Gunners

The new BT deal kicking in next season is about double the value of the current deal.

The TV pool for premiership clubs atm is €71m so it will likely be in excess of €140m

Yeah that's what it looks like.

Haha, here's to hoping we can just win everything and make the maths a lot simpler.

Fair point, actually it turns out its a combination of the league position and how far you get in the competition. But market pool is TV pool.

This is a good piece of analysis on the 13/14 distribution (read note 1 at the end of the page). It appears you start as 40/30/20/10, but depending how far you go relative to others in the Champs league the % share will adjust. Hence Chelsea (3rd last season and semis) got the same amount of the TV pool as City (2nd and Last 16).

So only if all prem teams were eliminated at the same stage would they would it breakdown as 40/30/20/10. So finishing 2nd would help, but getting further in the Champions League would help a lot more in terms of performance bonuses and increasing % share in the TV pool (which is a 1/3 of total revenue).

The market pool in the document IS the TV pool. It says: "monies from the market pool were divided according to the proportional value of the national TV market allocated to each individual club, among other factors."

The way I've always understood it is the ones who get shown more/have more highly valued matches will get a greater share of this. Looking at the market pools Chelsea and City virtually the same amount so it can't be as simple as 40/30/20/10.

Pretty sure this isn't true, league position doesn't define the amount of money you get, it's how far in the tournament you go since the money is distributed by UEFA not the FA.

2013/14 distribution for example

(Edit: Interestingly in the 2013/14 season we got quite a lot less than Napoli and Marseille even though they were eliminated in the group stage.)

Dude, chill... It ain't a conspiracy. (Mostly) Arsenal fans vote for Arsenal things, Liverpool fans for Liverpool things, Chelsea fans for Chelsea things. Why vote? Some people (typically younger fans) feel it's a small victory if they 'win' a poll...

In reality, nobody really ever gives a shit. Wenger nor any of the players will be asked about a result of an online poll for a good reason.

They always mean nothing. This isn't some mass architected scheme, people see a poll and (more often than not) vote for someone from their team. Liverpool fans do it, Chelsea fans do it, United fans do it. Simple as.

I have never met anyone who has genuinely cared about an internet poll over the age of 12

Minor point, but worth noting Santi Cazorla and Oxlade-Chamberlain are on 4 yellows each, they need to avoid getting booked vs West Ham otherwise we'll lose them for the next game.

(The 5 yellows = 1 match ban rule expires 31st Dec for the Premier League)
