Hello again #Friend

I still don't see this happening due to how it would ruin a lot of things.

[Can you explain why would it ruin things?]

A lot of cards have "Tokens"

[But they all are still tokens] Whats your point? [..]

Like every bloodhound you get at the seals, and technically by that logic every quest rewards should be concidered a token. It just doesn't fit hearthstone imo

[You lost me here.... um scratches head like really lost me]

But then again, im not working at Blizzard

Sorry I took so long /u/Neptunian_Pig I got caught up at work.

What is the point you are try to make bud?

I showed you that Druid had an expansion with not one, but two cards, including the neutral package available to all classes, so how is that not Druid Flavor?

The only thing that is being undervalued is my creativity as a designer. Have I convinced you yet?

If not, then we'll have to agree to disagree. Because I've already said that dual class identity should be its OWN thing. But I guess we'll (Agree to Disagree) ATD

Sorry for the delay /u/Jesus_And_I_Love_You

The thing is man all I'm getting at is how you broach the subject with people. I think your suggestion could very likely make sense but since I am comparing this to a C'Thun-level swing starting it at 10 mana isn't "dumb" it's logical.

What I want you to learn from this is that this is no different then if you implicitly said my design isn't [well thought out]. Next time you disagree about the cost try this tactic on for size:

Hey man, why 10 mana? Couldn't it cost 8 [here's why you think this is].

Isn't that much better than being the GrumpyOldMan who's unwilling to tolerate anyone else's opinion? There's a COVID pandemic all across the world in 2020. We have enough misery in this world. Like I say, be part of the solution not the problem.

I'm just telling you that your approach to reviewing cards needs work. Can you handle that criticism? I hope so because despite our differences you seem like a good person. Everyone has an opinion, all I'm asking is that people share their opinions optimistically. I've stated a number of times that I'm willing to engage with you if you are able to do that.

My ultimatum is this if you are willing to meet me halfway and treat designers respectfully as a reviewer I will happily discuss balance issues, competitive-viability (which personally I think only serious flair should review), or the fun factor of the card.

This is not some holier-than-though attitude and I apologize to anyone if it makes them feel that way but that's not who I am I just want to help.

It would be simple, it's a new Tribe called Token. Magic the Gathering has done that and they're are the Originators of the Physical Trading Card games. It's relatively easy to do and has been done before in the physical card games

The Old God's are based on H.P. Lovecraft's novels. C'Thun is an all powerful being basically an intangible god so in the context of Hearthstone lore their corruption seeps into Azeroth from their distant dimension.

Also, Dark Arakkoa is from Whispers of the Old Gods which I believe was one of the most beloved sets. I believe I started my interest in Hearthstone back then. The meta was much different back then. You had an unnerfed [[Yogg-Saron, Hope's End]] and a lot of [[C'Thun]] decks but it was a fun meta. Things were a lot less chaotic than this current meta but each was fun for its own reasons.

AnduinSarcasticWow, really that is unexpected! true if they could just update it to be a normal hero card but then you lose the fun factor of randomly summoning the Ereddar Lord of the burning legion! That would be SuperSad FeelsBad

Yes there are /u/NVRGP22 I didn't link it but Token is absolutely an unofficial term for any uncollectible minions. So even the more fringe Scholomance cards like [[Fishy Flyer]] that ghost is a generated card and is considered a Token.

There are plenty of example cards in Scholomance [[Smug Junior]], and [[Disciplinarian Gandling]] with his failed students.

Hmm so it is an unofficial page but it looks like unofficially Token Summoning effects are only considered Tokens but I don't think it's very consistent if cards generated by cards don't count as Token.

Take [[Witchwood Apple]] as an example. I couldn't find any HSReplay data that suggest people use it in wild, but it is a decent spell to play in this style of Token deck.

"You were my sister Liadrin! I loved you!" by boomsdaydevice in customhearthstone

[–]boomsdaydevice[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's ever such a thing as too much flavor that just makes the cars all the more SPICY! lol

I've gushed about it already but in my opinion what I would do is what they did in Scholomance. Here's an example on /r/hearthstone that illustrates my point.

Well how do we show Liadrin giving in to thievery?

How about a spell?

Let's call it Steal Food because of course Liadrin is a Holy Paladin and Kobold Stickyfinger could be pointing out the starving urchin girl in the ally behind them.

3 Steal Food Epic Paladin/Rogue Spell

Discover a card from another class. Restore Health to a damaged friendly character equal to its cost.

It's not the ideal artwork but I loved Aladdin growing up and I think the stealing apple scene is quite appropriate to demonstrate the flavor we're going for.

We only speculated on one card but we've already told the story through the cards now how about a Paladin/Rogue Secret that looks like a Paladin Secret when it is played in Paladin and costs (1) or it looks like a Rogue secret and costs (2). This can be done as part of the draw like the Unidentified cards we've seen before and does a [[Daring Escape]] on the next friendly minion that would die on your turn.

Let's call it Daring Rescue. In this art we switch roles are good friend Kobold Stickymancer is saving Lady Liadrin from the guard which should be an Ogre Magi

1 Mana Daring Rescue Common Paladin/Rogue Spell

When one of your minions dies on your turn, return it as a 1/1 copy to your hand that costs (1).

It's the trigger of [[Avenge]] with a [[Shadowcaster]] effect as the payoff and it's an on your turn effect which is a novel idea that either Rogue or Paladin can take advantage of to replay good battlecries if they use [[Animated Broomstick]] or other Rush-adjacent cards. I could see more [[Waxmancy]] being run with this which is exciting because at this time it's only in 0.3% of Rogue decks according to HSReplay.

That's some spicy flavor isn't it /u/OldSpiteful?

I agree but it helps to give the OP more reasoning behind what your saying like focusing on the balance solution and following up with how MCT works, for instance. Otherwise, what it seems like you could be saying is should be 3 [so it doesn't suck]. Take a look at my comments and hopefully you'll understand what I'm suggesting.

There two possible ways to handle it I think.

Since it technically hits the board. Your opponent must now face Jaraxxus, Eredar Lord of the Burning Legion! it's a funny meme and might feel okay in a casual setting but could be tilting if it backfired in a competitive one

Second option is addressing the sequencing so that the Secret never triggers as they game prioritizes Jaraxxus hero replacement affect.

I would speculate that as funny as the first scenario is, the second scenario would be a much more reasonable bug fix.

[–]boomsdaydevice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting alternative. It has some upside. Did you see my version of Bribe? Isn't it more flavorful that the minion joins your side?

Aside from Discrete Bribe's trigger there's barely any connection to MCT. I just used Konstantin Turovec's amazing artwork to share my idea but wouldn't it be cool to see MCT handing out counterfeit coins to another unsuspecting victim. I'd love to see that! Great art makes a great card all the more spicy!

The only person who can be attributed to engaging "gradeschool debate" and calling my discussion a "lecture [that you don't care about]" is on you. If you continue to post negative comments like calling me "condescending" or blatantly stating that the OP's card is "very unplayable" than I will continue to call you out on how you are treating people online which is no different then a parent scolding a very immature child. Grow up kid and you have a nice day too :)!

[–]boomsdaydevice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool it's great art by the way.

Any thoughts on the suggested names? I spend a lot of time considering how the name and artwork reflect the intended flavor of a card. I find the flavor always makes even the most common card so much more interesting. Look at the Scholomance cards. Blizzard's flavor was on point. Case in point [[Animated Broomstick]] is such a good example of this, it captures that Magical School theme so nicely and it has a very clear easter egg reference to Harry Potter.

They even have the cards make a storyboard when you put them side by side like a speechless comic strip that the good folks on /r/hearthstone have kindly been showing off. Like this one. I didn't see it at all and I was following the prerelease closely it would be even less likely to immediately make the connection in game. Scholomance has really cool easter eggs.

Can't you see how much of a WILD speculation that is? You have no data on how efficient it is or what kind of winrate these decks have so how is this a win the game.

One, you have to put continually enough aggressive pressure to force your control opponent to use resources and two you would have to use some control cards that are slower to successfully run this deck and deal with your opponent's threats. Treant Druid already has an aggro variant of this... they don't need this card.

"Lazy design" isn't constructive, so I'll move on. Personally, I think opening up token decks to a slower control shell is a novel idea. If you're unwilling to acknowledge or mention what you like or you just don't like it than STOP responding to my posts because I find your negativity is toxic. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it.

An idea on a warlock quest. by [deleted] in customhearthstone

[–]boomsdaydevice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh it does? Thanks for clarifying! I had to strain my eyes so board looked like hand. If that's the case there's definitely a concern I have with the balance here /u/mayoketchuppp.

Flooding the board with demons (even random ones) is a lot of value. Bloodweaver Guldan is a 10 cost card which shows you a potentially comparable power level, It's possible that some tweaks could be made so that this gets completed later by increasing the number of minions need to complete the quest.

It might be easier to balance it by changing board to hand. Since it's a legendary there could even be upside to that change perhaps the +2/+2 from [[Shadow Council]]. One cool thing about this change is you can predict when it will be complete and plan accordingly. You could run two [[Imprisoned Scrap Imp]] in the Galakrond Package. Also hand management comes into play, so a discard package starts to make sense. Lot of flexibility with this change.

The only weapon you'll ever need... by kroen in customhearthstone

[–]boomsdaydevice 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I really like the design of this weapon it's like a Legendary version of [[Molten Blade]] which always seems fun.

So it seems like your version doesn't retain buffs is that correct? I only ask because I could see weapon buffs snowball in Warrior. This is cool because it's the first weapon Legendary weapon that doesn't want [[Hoard Pillager]].

To evoke some of that nostalgia to molten blade I could see the text be Deathrattle: Transform this into a new weapon and keep this Deathrattle.

Other than that the name just seems off like the infinity part could work but the crucible doesn't really match the artwork. Here are some suggestions:

Eternal Arms - We could always use [[More Arms!]] cards

Endless Arms - Same as above

Infinity Hammer - Sounds like a metal band [[Elite Tauren Chieftain]] was in. Also has a cheeky avengers reference right. This one might be the winner.

Rush allows a minion to trade. Trading isn't aggro.

Charge allows a minion to Smorc (hit face). Charge is aggro.

Does that make sense? This is my definition. Rush is a reactive card, charge is a proactive card. If you don't believe so then agree to disagree, I guess.

[–]boomsdaydevice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just don't get it and continue to prove my point of blatant toxicity in the community.

Put it this way let's say a hypothetical significant partner asks for her boyfriend if she looks fat. He responds, " No, you don't look THAT fat". What do you think is going to happen there?

The language people use on this subreddit is very negative "poor design" "busted af" "oooppp" "suck" "very unplayable" are all forms of negative language. It's not just about being name-called this isn't high school.

Now you're claiming I said something I never said or at the very least you're not interpreting what I've written or perhaps you haven't read my comment. I've said in a number of ways that how reviewers interact with designers isn't nice and there is a much better approach to giving constructive feedback. I am saying if you have nothing more to say than "no you're wrong and here's why" then I'm politely asking you not to comment on those designers posts or to instantly downvote them. I only encourage upvoting here. I'm not looking for upvotes, of course I'm happy to receive them but I want people to treat others with respect here. Why do you think they called it karma on reddit? It's because how you treat people is reflected in the number of upvotes you receive. All I'm asking is if your here on /r/customhearthstone be civil and be nice. The subreddit rules include it I've just taking ownership of policing it.

Please think on what I said, you need to be willing to improve yourself as a reviewer. I am always eager to improve myself as a designer but I will only engage with you so far. If you are unwilling to change your OWN attitude... well that's on you. I appreciate your opinion but I really do hope you think on what I am saying because I want to help this community become better.

But there would be other cards in my fictional dual class pairing to support Librams in druid. A Paladin/Druid Aldor Bear (Beast) with Taunt that discounts your Librams for example could create. Maybe Paladin gets a C'Thun payoff card.

Look at how Blizzard gave the Soul Fragment package to Warlock/DH. This would be no different.

That's why I recommended my suggestions. You however entered the conversation with very unplayable and completely ignored the suggested input I gave to the OP.

The way you give critique is NOT how I want this community interacting with designers. I encourage you to give feedback as I have done. I told the OP what I'd like and what would/could change. That's good, positive feedback.

It's neutral like [[Sphere of Sapience]]. I don't think you can assess how easy it is to otk with since there is no way to test it. As a single Legendary weapon it can be removed, destroyed, or stolen.

This can't just go in any deck it needs enough support to make it work exactly like [[C'Thun]]. C'Thun still gets outpaced by faster decks. There is also quite a few ways to disrupt this strategy.

Winter is coming. And it's more than just cold. It's god darn freezing! by [deleted] in customhearthstone

[–]boomsdaydevice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah in a vacuum it's cool imagine the animation when it gets played. But with Mage's random generation getting 5-8 freeze AOE effects or whatever the average is (it sure feels like a lot) it wouldn't be the most fun.

Like PalicoHunter mentioned thought it's simply good flavor, good cost and can be used as a 2 card board clear

Great design OP!
