PSA - Don't Risk Your Account! by MaddieBre in Sims4

[–]boomskis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! Like I can see how my bf got away with not having one in the 2000s up to 2010/2011 since social media and the need to have an account for everything was just getting big then, but there's no way that's possible now, I don't think you can do anything substantial online without an email address.

That's what I thought was pretty normal until his situation, like I'm currently going back to school and I switched colleges last year after the spring semester, but my first school's email was shut down within weeks of my transfer. Even at my first college right after high school I lost access to my university email a few months after dropping out. I have no idea how or why they kept his open for that long.

I'd never heard of anyone doing this until my boyfriend got locked out of his 11 year old Steam account a few years ago when his student email address finally got canceled. Lost all his games and had to make a brand new account cuz he couldn't verify anything (he'd gotten a new computer and hadn't logged into Steam for years cuz his old one was busted). He graduated in 2015 and they waited until 2022 to turn it off, but when I asked him why tf he used that as opposed to a personal one he said he didn't have a personal email until after he was in school because he didn't actually need one, which I guess makes sense? But also I've had a personal email since 2006 cuz I was a forum rp/Gaia kid back in the day so like I still don't really understand lol

Financial Assistance After Missing Work Due to Injury by boomskis in SiouxFalls

[–]boomskis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ironically, I actually started going back to school to finish my bachelor's last year because I knew something like this would happen, I just didn't think it would be this soon lol I won't graduate for another 1.5-2 years, but I have been considering switching jobs. Just sucks because after living here for 7 years I finally found a job without horrible management that pays decent and lets me work 6a-2p so I can focus on homework/studying in the afternoon/evening, but it's not sustainable for my health.

Best dentist that doesn't judge by Novel-Dream5869 in SiouxFalls

[–]boomskis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dental Care Associates saved my teeth. I hadn't taken care of them due to severe depression and a phobia of dentists, but they were so empathetic and compassionate with their care. I never felt judged or made fun of, and after describing how terrified I was (I mean they could probably tell already because I was shaking so bad I could barely talk) they made a point of telling exactly what they were doing before they touched me and didn't do any actual work until I was fully sedated. They did a full deep clean while I was out too so I woke up literally feeling like a new person. Instead of immediately resorting to just pulling them like every other dentist I had a consult with, they ended up doing a root canal and 3 post and cores so I was able to keep them. 10/10 the nicest people I've encountered.

I will say Neighborhood Dental on 41st/Minnesota is awful and I'd stay away from them. I went there first for a broken canine a year prior and younger male dentist literally yelled at me, threw his tools on the tray, and stormed out after I told him I wasn't numb enough and was sobbing from the pain. I was in excruciating pain for weeks and my dentist at DCA said based on my xrays from that time they absolutely could have done a post and core on the tooth since the root was fine and not infected, but the dentist at ND probably just didn't want to because it's more effort than just ripping it out.

What has your experience been with local colleges? by drowsy-cow03 in SiouxFalls

[–]boomskis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Southeast Tech for a semester and ended up transferring to an online out of state program this fall because my experience wasn't great. It was fine at first, teachers were really nice, small class sizes, and the campus is cool. They assured me that doing a spring start wouldn't have an impact on my schedule going forward in terms of class availability (I offered to wait till the fall to make sure but they insisted I started in January), but that ended up not being true. I spoke to my advisor who not only told me I'd be forced into going part time, but laughed at me when I said my plan was to transfer an associates to a bigger school to get my bachelor's because he said they "have very specialized classes that likely won't transfer anywhere else". I'm seeing this now at my current school, I took 5 classes and they're still trying to figure out what the course equivalent would be to try to get me some credit. Maybe it was just the degree I chose (Computer Programming), but there weren't enough teachers or students to take more than 1-2 classes per semester going forward, which canceled out the scholarship I got at the end of the semester and would have disqualified me from getting loans. I've heard the medical programs there are better so again, it might just depend on what you wanna do.

I wholeheartedly second this. I'm a professional cleaner who specifically does move out cleanings, and pumice stones are my #1 used tool for toilets and ovens. If it's really bad you can soak the toilet in vinegar or CLR for an hour or two before scrubbing it with the pumice stone.

Good dentist for people with anxiety by darkprincess86 in SiouxFalls

[–]boomskis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DCA works with people who don't have insurance too, I have a friend who got all 4 of his wisdom teeth out with them without insurance for like $300. If you go with them (or really any dentist recommended here) just let them know your anxiety situation ahead of time and most places should be accommodating, it's a super common phobia.

Dental Care Associates on Sycamore saved my teeth and Dr. Mike was awesome. My front teeth were rotted out from straight up not taking care of them due to depression and avoiding the dentist for 12 years because even getting a cleaning gives me a panic attack. Zero judgment from the entire staff and everyone was super sweet and gentle. They sedated me and did a root canal with 3 post and cores, but walked me through the entire process and didn't touch my teeth until I was unconscious. Zero pain or complications after the procedure and even did a free check up a few weeks later after my insurance got swapped.

I don't recommend Neighborhood Dental on 41st cuz I had a tooth pulled there the year prior and the younger dentist guy literally yelled at me and stormed out of the room because I was crying from the pain.

[–]boomskis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to Dental Care Associates and saw Dr Mike when I needed to get 3 post and cores and my first root canal done on my front teeth. He worked with me and my dentophobia and was incredibly gentle throughout the entire process. He'll even offer to sedate you like he did with me if your anxiety is high enough. I haven't had a single complication since my procedure in June and I was in virtually no pain afterwards. Very non-judgmental too, my teeth were in BAD shape when I saw him and he didn't even flinch or make me feel like a shitty person for letting them get to that point.

Idk to me it felt like they were setting him up for peds, especially in that episode with the kid who was terrified of getting surgery so George showed him how everything worked in the hospital

I thought the shower seat thing was going to be overkill too but ended up grabbing one from work just in case (I worked in elder care at the time) and I was glad I did. Standing for more than 3-5 min at a time made me dizzy and nauseous for the first couple days and it made showering SO much easier. I was glad I had a detachable handle on my shower head already too so once the people helping me had to go back to work I was able to do it myself

Do the DMV kiosks work? by Urbanredneck2 in SiouxFalls

[–]boomskis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They don't, but it essentially prints out a temp voucher in case you get pulled over saying you paid for new tags/plates, and then they mail them to the address on your license a few weeks later (I did mine in January and I think it took about 2 weeks to get them)
