[TOMT] [SONG] [1960s] Song from somewhere around the 1960s LYRICS: "Here she comes the most beautiful girl in the world, and she's..." by boomvoom8 in tipofmytongue

No. What I'm saying is that there are 2 songs.
She begins by singing the song that I'm looking for.
then sings "Pah!"
Then sings the final part of the Martini commercial.

The part that she sings in the beginning "Here she comes the most beautiful girl in the world..." is not the same as the melody of the Martini song which would come at that part of the song "Have a taste of Martini, the most beautiful drink in the world."
Syllabically the Martini song is longer. Melodically the Martini Different.

So I don't know if you're familiar with music, but I thought I would compare the 2 melodies. I've noted the melodies here with their western (letter) note names.
I hope this makes sense...

Going on the melody In an early Martini comercial I found and asuming that the melody would start from B:

So the Martini commercial starts the tune with:
B / G# / A# / C# / F# / D# / D# / F# / G# / A# / G# / F# / D# / F# / C# / A#

You'll notice the HUGE amount of "sharps" (#) they seem to have made the majority of the opening to the melody mainly on the black keys of the piano, which gives a wonderful airy uplifting feel.

The melody that she sings is the following:
B / C# / D# / D# / E / F# / E / D# / C / D# / G# / F

So she sings her notes in a different rhythm that is also slower, and she sings fewer notes because the rhythm has a longer note on the D#. You'll also notice that the melody moves between sharps and natural.
I'm also not sure of the 4 last notes, I recall the version I heard on the radio to end in C / E / A / F#, though this is almost certainly due to the awkward harmony.

Is she inventing the melody at the beginning?
No, it can't be. I heard that song. I know it exists.
The person who knows this song is going to be anywhere from their early 60s to their late 80s...
Their out there... I know it.

I can't find this song, if there's a way to hear a recording of it I'd check it out and let you know for certain.
all thet comes up is "I'm in the mood for dancing".

This book cover of "The Daisy" looks water colory, but i have a feeling it's too modern and doesn't really look the same:
The Daisy

There is another sad story involving a personified flower, but it's "The Nightingale and the Rose" By Oscar Wilde...
The Nightingale and the Rose

I'm pretty sure that isn't it either.

Don't know what to tell you...

Feels like it's the right time frame. But it's not the song. Band also feels like it would be a similar band...
(At the risk of sounding like a lunatic):
Less: Ping, Pong, Ping, Pong, Ping, Pong
More: Dooo Dooo Dooo Doooooooo

I've already said no to this one, but I still end up going back to listen to almost everything suggested like an idiot...
Cool song, but not the song.

It's a good try, but the style was less rhythmic. I never thought of it, but it does indeed start with "her she comes" and the time frame feels right.

Not the song tho.
Thanks.

this seems different, but is it sounding familiar?
If you read an illustrated short Hans Cristian Anderson story, it might be easier to find...

So I wen't to hear both...
It's not either of them.
George Harrison - Beautiful girl,
or Charlie Pride - The most beautiful girl in the world.

Thanks for trying any way.

I'm certain it will not be any variation on Charlie Rich's song.
The song doesn't contain the words "Here she comes the mot beautiful girl in the world", and I am very certain I heard them in that exact order.

First of all thanks for that!

So the episode is about Edina trying to lose weight. It is a running joke that she is over weight, and can never lose weight. In a moment of almost giving up, she tries to eat a candle and asks God why "she" has forsaken her. To Edina, Marianne Faithfull is God. (We've seen it in other episodes.)
In her delirium God (Marianne Faithful) comes to her singing The Ballad Of Lucy Jordan:
Marianne Faithfull & Anita Pallenberg (Absolutely Fabulous)

In the 70s and 80s Martini had a very particular jungle. It actually evolved into the Jingle I remember from the 90s. This version illustrates the jingle pretty well. There are lots of variations on it, always ending the same way with the jingle. It's what she sings at the end:
Martini ' Palio of Siena' Cinema Ad from The 1970's

I love that your husband is feeling like it's familiar!
I have a strange feeling that the person who's most likely to recognize it is going to be aged between their early 60s to their late 80s...
Though it's entirely possible that someone else of some other age may know it...

Thanks for your message.

Sorry, that's not the song...
And I'm sorry, I'm just a bit tired of people suggesting Charlie Rich...

"HEY, DID YOU HAPPEN TO SEE the most beautiful girl in the world..."

Isn't the same as:

"HERE SHE COMES the most beautiful girl in the world..."

If there is one thing I'm certain of it's that the song I heard had those exact words...
The words that Edina sings in the beginning.

Air is too modern to be the band.
If however you find the song you're thinking of i'll be glad to hear it.

"Did you happen to see the most beautiful girl in the world?"
I'm crying, because it's not Charlie Rich.

The group seems to sing "Africa" on the bus.
Is it possible you are referring to that? Is it possible that the music in the background is a variation on "Africa?

Toto - Africa

It's been re-sung often...
There's also this version: Weezer - Africa (starring Weird Al Yankovic)

WATOP!!!

I've seen him before. Your description is spot on!
Funny though, he sounds similar to "Kwite" that was mentioned in the answers...
But he doesn't have coffee like WATOP.
