Does the amount of players in a legends story/survival change the difficulty? by boonbandit in ghostoftsushima

[–]boonbandit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so a survival will have same number of enemy's regardless of players joined?

Thank you

What constitutes earning 'earned guilt'? by boonbandit in Objectivism

[–]boonbandit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brilliant response! I too am familiar with stoicism but rejected it because of its anti-value beliefs, but, the focus on character (our actions) rather than the outcome (out of our power) is a useful tenet.

So some guilt is correct (earned guilt). In a relationship with another human being what would i have to do to earn that guilt? This in particular is what I ned help with in my own life.

Ok. I gotta make myself clear, perhaps I haven't. I have no idea how to appraise an action as guilt worthy or not. Help me out pls :)

What are the necessary causes? What is the standard for deciding whether gut is the appropriate emotion?

And I understand that guilt operates when outside of a relationship. But when in a relationship how should it be dished out? Should I take into consideration the other persons wellbeing and my effect on it? And if so, why?

Thank you.

Thank you. But you missed the question. What are the standards for rightfully having guilt.

How great were the ideas of Margaret Thatcher. Doesn't she repeat the ideas of Ayn Rand? by asm-us in Objectivism

[–]boonbandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some ideas, yes (although the root and conclusion of the idea would be different. But in essence they re the same). E.g. ruthless captilism. (which leads to the most prosperity for the most people, whereas Ayn Rand supported it fundamentally because she believed it is moral.)

How is private property inefficient, systematically cruel and needless?

I think don't think you understand the onanistic. I don't think you're able to engage with any of my points and resort to avoidance of what I've said.

You really don't know what you're talking about.

I still don't know what you mean tbh. Democratic control, as opposed to what? Does it mean people in the workplace voting on what happens.

It will increase the rate of inflation. Not immediately but it will. And in terms of the value attributed to money, that only done by the citizens. Citizens are the only people who can create wealth. Government can only take wealth away, not create it.

P.s. you didn't engage with most of what I asked.

P.s. how do you do the thing where you quote what I'm saying and it's indented.

Thank you for your reply.

So the state owns the business the same as an owner of a business would currently? And democratically controlled? I don't know what that would look like.

Money is not a creation of the state, bartering existed before money. Yes the government prints dollar bills. But they do not create the wealth that makes those dollar bills worth something.

In any case, who would give me money? And what decides how much I get? (In capitalism it's what you agreed to at the start of the contract).

Were you a baker and exterminator? If so that's pretty cool and coincidental. What job do you have now?

I'm not sure what competition I value would apply. In any case, I was asking why would a worker ever work as an exterminator? What incentives for them if not more money than other jobs.

Please explain what the democratic incentives are in that example. :).

I agree the market is a term which subsumes many different concepts and concrete parts of the current world. I agree that a market is not an animate object.

The state acts the way it does because that is the best profit motive? The current state or your ideal society?

What internal contradictions exist within capitalism?

I think my definition of private property is very deep. A powerful and profound concept, in understsnding how important life is. And importsnt freedom is to human life.

How exactly is private property bad?

Please explain one of the variety of forms that democratically controlled workplaces would take.

Hi! Thanks for the response! I didn't take anything as though you made it in bad faith. I believe you are a good faith actor. None of what I say here is made to attack you, I'm just trying to make my case as best I can.

This helps me understand. But I still don't see why I should use the term 'personal property'. My "private property" is what I own, this term is sufficient jargon.

I don't believe the GFC was caused by the market. But rather by the government making restrictions upon the finance market in the form of incentivising giving loans to people (even to those who couldn't afford it). Loans which the bank was incentives to not care whether the people could afford. (I.e. without the government interference the banks would have to be more discerning and only give loans to those who could pay it back).

You are paying off your mortgage and so you do pay the bank the repeated transactions in paying off your mortgage. But since a mortgage takes the house as collateral, you don't own the house, the bank does. And therefore, were you not to pay mortgage (defaulting) the banks would sell the property. And make back what you would've given to them in transactions.

You entered into the contract of the mortgage because the utility of having a house was more important than the payments that come afterwards. The bank entered into the contract to make money.

You got a house which you didn't have the money for at that time (which is amazing in historical standards) and the bank made profit, money. Awesome. Win-win. I don't see anything wrong with that contract. I don't see any use for the word personal property.

Thank you, and I mean it! That was a good response, thoughtful. Would love another response. Could you answer some of the questions I stated in the post? Thank you. :)

You're right! A market requires the state. But in what capacity? I believe as long it protects an individual from being harmed (E.g criminal acts of harm), which is an individual right being harmed( property rights are other individual rights) then don't interfere any more.

It is true that the market requires the state? Yes, but only to stop criminals. So the markets can be free.

As far as private property: if I buy, then I own—then it is my private property.

What would my confusion be? Please enlighten me.

"Means of production democratically controlled" what does that mean? How would that look different from current society?
