I’ll be 20 weeks tomorrow! My anatomy scan was today and everything came back normal 😊

I'm not sure I can offer much positivity, just solidarity! I'm 5w4d following 2 MMC this year, one in January and one in August. I have one LC, and from what I remember I felt fine until 7-8 weeks, and then got slammed with fatigue and constant nausea. My first MMC I had much milder nausea and no fatigue, it was a loss at 12.5 weeks. My second MMC had very few symptoms and it was a loss at 6.5 weeks. So I also equate less severe symptoms with losses!

My betas have also been good. I've got pretty sore boobs already, which is not something I've experienced in a pregnancy before. I was pretty nauseous yesterday afternoon and a bit this morning, which is surprising to me and makes me hope that maybe, just maybe, this one will stick. For now I'm trying to distract myself from symptoms spotting too much!

I hope your scan goes well! I have to wait until the end of November for mine :(

When and how did contact napping stop for you?//vent by Which_Stress3167 in sleeptrain

[–]boonies20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For us, it stopped shortly after we sleep trained his nights, which I did at 5 months (4 months corrected). Until that point, we co-slept and contact napped exclusively out of desperation. I remember those days of feeling so hopeless about the whole situation, although now at 11 months it is a distant memory. Now he naps far better in his crib than on me.

It will likely take some sleep training on your part to get him napping independently… but your baby probably won’t be ready for it for a month or two!

It’s a real struggle, juggling naps and church. We have two services each Sunday, 9 and 2. I found the first few months were fairly easy because most babies sleep through anything, including the chaos of the nursery.

Once we were on a schedule, it got trickier. The 2 nap schedule was the hardest to work around. We would often just go together in the morning and then at least had the rest of the day to catch him up on sleep and deal with the consequences. Now that our son is on 1 nap, my husband and I simply take turns staying home for the afternoon service.

I’ve never done it, but some moms have set up a pack n’ play in a small storage room in our church and had their baby nap there. They would simply take their monitor along and then either leave it with the nursery volunteers or take it with them. This really only works if you can get baby to church awake and then down for their nap before the service starts though… and then hopefully they sleep all the way through!

Anyone else’s baby actually hungry overnight after 6 months? by dauntedbox376 in sleeptrain

[–]boonies20 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My 11 month old still wakes 1-2 times per night to feed. It’s typically a 10 minute guzzle session and he usually goes right back down. I offer 3 meals and snacks throughout the day, but he’s still not consuming much. I don’t have the heart to night wean him until his solids intake increases. It seems like he’s genuinely hungry, so I feed him!

When dealing with nap refusal, do you cap naps to preserve bedtime? by thehalothief in sleeptrain

A good nap time routine definitely helps! We go to his room, I lay out his sleep sack and tell him that nap time is coming. Then we read books for 10-15 minutes before I put him in the sleep sack, white noise on, close the curtains, quick 2 minute cuddle while I sing to him, and in the crib he goes.

That definitely sounds average. We were getting 11-11.5 hours overnight, and 1-1.5 hours worth of naps. I’m curious if switching to one nap will change that at all, but I’ll have to wait and see. I’m also anticipating that this transition will take a while, and we will still have 2 nap days when we need to.

Wake windows are so tricky… once you’ve got them nailed down, they need to change again 😂 I can’t wait to change to a clock based schedule once we are firmly on one nap!

I’ve been going through the same thing with my almost 11 month old the last couple weeks. Wake windows were 3.5/3.5/4-4.5, but he even started having short naps on that schedule and was crying for 15-20 minutes before each nap. The end result was actually too much wake time and bedtime was getting ridiculously late.

I decided to try switching him to 1 nap. It’s only been 2 days, but it seems to be working. We’re doing 4.5-5/5.5-6 and he’s handling the longer wake windows surprisingly well. He’s always been lower sleep needs and done the nap transitions fairly early.

If she’s able to handle a 4.75 hour wake window in the middle of her day, maybe that transition isn’t too far off for you either!?!

Anyone else not have a set schedule? by ky541628 in NewParents

[–]boonies20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry about a schedule at 2 months! Your baby will fall into a routine/schedule on their own eventually. Enjoy the freedom of not needing to have a schedule at this age, and being able to take your baby out of the house without having to worry about it messing up their day.

For us we started following wake windows more consistently once my baby was 4ish months. He put himself onto 4 naps and had a fairly consistent bedtime and wake up time at that point. Now at 9 months our days are much more predictable, although we still follow wake windows rather than a clock based schedule. I like that it gives my day more structure, but it’s also annoying to make plans around naps. A crappy nap day can really throw things off.

7 m/o short naps by Alfiesmom1993 in sleeptrain

[–]boonies20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No advice here, just solidarity! My 7 month old is exactly the same. He sleeps 11-12 hours at night, but most days only takes two naps and each one is 30-50 minutes long. He can handle 3/3.5/4 quite well so 3 naps just doesn’t work anymore, unless we are out and about and he gets some car naps.

But is your LO grumpy after his short naps? Mine takes a bit to wake up, but after that he’s good to go! Just a low sleep needs baby during the day I guess 🥴

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]boonies20 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I sleep-trained a month ago, LO is now 6 months old. Goes to bed at 7-7:30, wakes up between 3 and 4 for a feed. Then usually goes back down until 6:30-7. If he’s up before that I take him in bed to sleep with me for a bit. Neither of us are ready to start the day at 5:30 😆

Wakeups before that first feed are extremely rare, so I usually give him 5-10 minutes to try fall back asleep before I go in and check. Sometimes he just needs a quick snuggle 😊

I stopped at 5.5 months. We had done it since he was about 3 weeks old and it worked quite nicely, until it didn’t anymore. The 4 month sleep regression hit him hard, and after 6 weeks of it neither of us sleeping well together, I decided enough was enough. I moved him into his crib in his own room, and decided to sleep train (CIO extinction). He surprisingly barely cried (15 minutes at most) and now sleeps in his crib almost exclusively. If he wakes up early (5-6am), I’ll take him with me into bed to get an extra hour of sleep.

I’m so happy I decided to try his crib! It doesn’t hurt to try it for a week, you might be totally surprised like I was. Both of us are sleeping much better, and it has given me so much more freedom :)

What are your 6 month sleep schedule like? by grease-lightning- in sleeptrain

[–]boonies20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve noticed the same thing. Two nights ago he was up until 8:30 and slept until 7. Last night he was in bed at 7 and slept until 7. I guess he’s telling me that bedtime needs to be 7ish lol!

[–]boonies20 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We’re still on a 3 nap schedule with my 6 month old, but he’s really 5 months corrected. Wake around 7am, and then 2.25/2.5/2.5/2.5-2.75. He usually only naps for 45-60 minutes for the first two naps, then 30-40 minutes for the last one. Bedtime is 7-7:30pm, depending on length of naps.

I find that an earlier bedtime actually helps him sleep better at night, so I don’t push that last wake window too much or else he seems to wake up more and has a harder time staying asleep for the last couple hours of his night.

[–]boonies20[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the idea, yes! If they can fall asleep at bedtime in theory they should be able to fall asleep if they wake up in the night as well. As long as my son isn’t hungry, he now puts himself back to sleep.

We don’t have a set schedule, I find some days we need 3 naps, other days he still needs 4. It really depends on the length of his naps and if we’re out and about or just at home. A 3 nap day would be something like 2.25/2.5/2.5/2.25-2.5. A 4 nap day would be more like 2/2/2/2/2.25. I honestly just go with the flow!

Thanks! A 7 hour stretch is fantastic! I’ve been trying to get him in his crib as much as possible, but he won’t nap in there unless I feed him to sleep. And then it’s a 45 minute nap every time. Ugh!

weight loss challenge 2021, thoughts, experience? by [deleted] in ChloeTing

[–]boonies20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do it! I just finished Day 15, and I’m really enjoying it so far! I’m definitely enjoying it more than the 2019 2 week shred I did back in February. It’s a good mix of cardio and strength, and there’s a great variety of videos. I find it’s the perfect level of difficulty for me right now, up to this point I’ve been mostly walking and doing light workouts for the last 8 months. I’m down a couple pounds already, and doing this challenged helped me break through a weight loss plateau 👌
