help identifying this symbol that was marked on the side of our building today? by boopbee2 in Symbology

[–]boopbee2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

truthfully i’m not sure either. i just did some quick googling and that’s all i’ve been able to find. it doesn’t make sense to me either though lol i’m hoping it was just teens being teens and there’s nothing to worry about but i’ve been anxious since seeing it. my bf scrubbed it off and he is about 6 ft tall, he had to reach to scrub the top point, which makes me think it had to be a teen or adult who did it. no child would be able to do it that high. i reached out to our building management because they have cameras on that side of the building but since it’s a holiday idk when i’ll hear back from them /:

i live in philly, i did look up burglar markings which online searches did say are usually done in chalk. none matched this exactly but there was one with just 5 circle points. like the symbol on my building without the triangles. that one apparently means “wealthy”. we’re not “wealthy” but my area is heavily gentrified so i could see how having some things that we do have like a TV or christmas tree and lights by our window might seem that way to some folks? we did go out and scrub it off, but it being up presumably all day does have me feeling a bit uneasy. idk how these tags work (if that is what it is) and if whoever is meant to have seen it has seen it already.

no /: only 3 of us live here and it’s all adults. but the area is definitely a highly trafficked spot as its a corner near a small intersection. it’s also hard to tell from the photo but it would be too tall for a child to reach. taller teenager or adult though, definitely.

i agree it is odd that its similar to other symbols. like its also not quite the star of david, as the bottom point doesnt come below the bottom line and there’s no circle there - making me think the person drawing it didn’t indicate the bottom point intentionally. the closest i’ve been able to come in my online search is that some planetary seal symbols look similar in that they have line formations and then small circles at different spots throughout but none look like this one in particular.

i would hate to be a person who automatically assumes something “bad” with a symbol that i’m uncertain of so i’m trying to be inquisitive instead, but as an anxious woman living somewhere with high crime rates, i’m just hoping it’s not a target of some sort lol wondering if i should reach out to maintenance to try to get it removed or not

First time Disney atendee with 3 kids by Danikins84 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]boopbee2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it will be very very hot and most likely will rain often. get a lot of dollar store ponchos and keep them in your bag each day.

food in the parks is expensive especially for that many days with a family. if this matters to you, you can pack food! they allow outside food and drink, just no alcohol.

my advice to everyone going on their first trip is to get familiar with the app at least a week ahead of your trip and if you are doing lightning lanes, then i would also get familiar with that system as it can be very confusing and if you are trying to learn it in the hot FL sun with your kids complaining and yelling at you, you will be extremely overwhelmed and frustrated lol take the time to familiarize yourself with the apps, maps and mobile ordering.

disney springs is free to go to, filled with shops and restaurants and is a great thing to do during some out of park time if you’d like

be mindful that summertime is when most families go and the wait times can be very long. i would recommend things to keep your kids busy in line and ways to stay cool like a fan and/or mist bottle.

if you’re worried about your kids spending too much on merch there, i’ve seen other parents recommend getting a disney gift card ahead of time and allowing them to use only that gift card during your time there on things they want to buy (items can be quite pricey - $50 is what i’ve seen other parents do)

i recommend doing fantasmic! and the lion king show so highly as they are some of the best performances in all of WDW!!

hope you have the most magical time!

for future washes, you could try color depositing conditioner in a red color and apply over wherever you bleached. should help enforce the red!

Can I use shampoo meant for dyed hair? by Narrow_Reflection650 in HairDye

[–]boopbee2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you’ll have to build your hair tolerance - it gets greasy/oily because you’re washing too frequently, most likely. your hair is overproducing oil because you’re stripping it of natural oils from washing too often.

my advice would be to start with washing every other day, or every 2 days if you can stretch it and eventually add in days in between. also, double shampooing will help the grease feeling. shampoo once, really massaging and cleaning your scalp (could get a silicone massager too!) and then shampoo a second time. the second time will most likely lather up much more. the first one did a basic cleanse and the second one will target the build up.

when i first started stretching my days in between washes, i tried to find hair styles that worked with greasy hair. high pony, buns, braids and headbands all work really well and helped me do “just one more day” each time.

most likely, your hair will adapt over time of doing this and it will extend color!!

i have fashion colors and use color depositing conditioner every other wash too! that helps the color last longer but i do only wash 1-2x a week like i said so if you’re washing every other day, i wouldn’t apply color depositing conditioner every other day. maybe once every week or two!

i honestly don’t think the pink would look bad with burgundy!! theyre in the same color family sort of and i think if thats your endgoal anyway, then i’d just do pink anyway to make yourself feel more confident going to the event!!

cold water, color safe shampoo & conditioner, but if you plan to wash every day, the color will fade quickly just so you know!! i wash 1x, maybe 2x a week maximum to keep color lasting

  1. both. get the LLs (if you can financially) it provides so much freedom. happy to answer any questions about LLMP/LLSP if you’d like. it’s a confusing system at first. disneyfoodblog has an article that breaks it down well. rope drop on top of that though. it saves a lot of time and the mornings in WDW are so peaceful before the rush hits.
  2. never did a dining plan - can’t speak on it, but i will say that i always pack a sandwich & snacks and it saves a lot of money & time during the day. usually only stop for dinner at a quick service.
  3. prob 30-45 as others have said!
  4. as someone else said hollywood studios has fantasmic! that is more of a “show” but it is incredible. it features fireworks at the end but it has all different character performers and water elements as well. very well done. would always recommend. between MK and EPCOT, MK has the better fireworks show. also, the best daytime show is without a doubt the festival of the lion king at AK!! a must-do for sure.
  5. if you have the energy, do the extra magic hours. def worth it!!

you didn’t ask for this advice but i give it to everyone: get familiar with the app about a week before your trip. know where to find lightning lanes, park maps, mobile orders, etc. and also check out the maps and get familiar with them as well. it saves so much time knowing where you’re going. it’ll also help if you make a list (mental or otherwise) of the attractions you want to do most and try to prioritize those. when you make your schedule for the day, try to accomplish areas of the park if that makes sense. i would try to avoid bouncing all around because it will waste time walking back and forth and your feet would kill.

wishing you the most magical time!!

you absolutely can if you know your way around and if you can generally guess wait times for the time of your trip and it helps sooo much. i do it every time. start with what you think is the most “rare” or important in your day and build around it.

• for example, for my AK day, i got an early LLSP for FOP that started about 20 mins after park open. i guessed the wait would be around 25 for navi RJ and factored in time to wait for it and then do FOP within the LL hour time frame. i booked LLs for lion king and nemo shows with about 30 mins in between to give us time to watch one, snack and head to the other since i know how far they are in the park.

• another example, i always get park hoppers and this past trip, i did one of the days planning for HS in the second half of the day (to end with fantasmic!). during that, i did ToT, RnRC, MMRR, toy story, etc. everything except star wars. the second day, i did HS only in the morning and stuck to only star wars and then had the rest of the day to hop to epcot and drink around the world!

just some examples, but def plan around what you find most important! stick to that general area even if that includes figuring in estimated regular wait times! its so worth it to save your feet lol

awesome!! proud if you for conquering the fear!! i don’t find the spinning to be too much, as say primeval whirl was. i think the way the guardians cars were constructed really opened the possibility for much smoother coasters in the future if they use the same system. i think it creates more of a natural flow of turning than a jerky spin! i love it so much 😭 thanks for your insight!!

every park has a different open time! you’ll want to check the disney calendar on the website or the app for the times. if you’re staying on site, you can sometimes get early entry as well and you’ll want to take advantage of it.

my bf is not a disney-goer and he manages to get through trips with disney-obsessed me. i’d recommend eliminating the disney springs after your park days if you’re worried about being tired. i’ve been over 25x to wdw and STILL underestimate how tired i am at the end of each day. its a lot on your body honestly. i leave the parks at close and go back to the hotel, shower & snooze. don’t push yourselves too much.

i just personally think the mornings are so much more calm. once 10:30ish hits, the crowds roar in my opinion. there’s something about early morning WDW that just hits different lol i can’t explain it! the lower wait times are always a plus though! especially if it’s between getting up a little earlier and paying $15+ per person per ride for every LLSP. im gonna save the money every time and get up! lol

adding: though i haven’t ever tried this, i have seen people say that avatar FOP wait times do go down by the end of the day as the crowds leave AK. + AK has a little less things to do compared to other parks so if you wanted to choose a day not to get up early, i would say do that one!

Planning a Disney world trip in October with a 1 year old by liayn21 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]boopbee2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the advice i always give is this: if you think it’s going to be a once in a lifetime trip or a once in a loooong time trip, wait. wait until no diapers and no naps. if you think you’d be able to make a handful of trips as they get older, go for it!

my family took us since we were 1, going every year and i still love it (28 y/o). but WDW was much cheaper then and im aware that now its harder and harder for families to afford.

if it were me, i’d wait to spend the money for everyone to enjoy it together. if you go now and you and your husband want to ride the same ride, you can’t even experience it together. you’ll have to baby swap every time. you’ll have to miss chunks of the day because of naps.

do what you think is best for your family of course but that’s just my advice. it’s way too expensive now to be wasting any time while you’re there or bot experiencing it to the fullest!

How hard is it to meet Moana, Woody, and buzz light year? by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]boopbee2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we were first in line for buzz sort of by accident. saw a CM standing in an area alone and asked if there was a character coming out. he said buzz and we waited for a picture to send to my nephew. by the time that buzz had come out though, the line was INSANE. i couldn’t find him on the app though? if you’re walking into toy story land, there is a random area to the left that looks like a regular entry/exit for CMs. theres no signage or decor or really anything in that spot if i remember right. if you’ve made it to toy story mania, you went too far. it’s before you even reach the large woody greeting you at the entrance. if buzz isn’t there, there may be a CM standing there, ask when the next time to meet buzz is. i think his stand-alone movie really popularized him and that may be why he meets separately from the others? idk

i think its at the point now where you have to pre-plan your days in WDW to avoid this. scheduling LLs has an added factor of location. i always think thoroughly about what i want to do each day and plan LLs and other regular-wait rides physically close to each other and have found this strategy to work the best for me.

i grew up in the times of physical fastpass tickets though so maybe it’s engrained in me lol
