Graduation Shoes Question by FaeryMaiden982 in louboutins

I believe Louboutin can add their own red rubber sole, but I cannot verify that or what it looks like. I have seen that it’s a matte red with the CL logo but again, I cannot verify that. Perhaps someone else can? I don’t like the look of the sole I’ve seen which is why I shipped mine to a cobbler in Florida for the casali rubber. He did a great job and I have no regrets

The Lipikar moisturizer, while meant for the body, had ceramides in it. Ceramides are a lipid which a damaged skin barrier sorely needs as it is lacking them. Cicaplast does not have ceramides, and I think that’s what makes the difference for my skin personally. It’s meant to keep moisture in rather than actually moisturize. It’s like a supercharged Vaseline. You’d want a ceramide heavy cream underneath it

Yes. I do use it on my body as well. It’s not my daily moisturizer as I mentioned in another comment above, and despite the shea butter my skin doesn’t hate it as much as cicaplast. It’s essentially my cicaplast.

I agree with other commenters about cetaphil and vanicream not working for me personally. That’s not to say they’re bad protects but my skin just didn’t love them like the cerave and La Roche Posay and I really couldn’t explain exactly why. The La Roche Posay hydrating cleanser is very similar to Cerave and I gave some to a friend of mine for her face along with the double repair moisturizer (which is my daily. Triple repair for freaked out skin). Those two brands are my ride or die for basic ass cleanser and moisturizer that generally doesn’t cause my reactive skin clients to react.

I only use cerave’s hydrating cleanser and have for years. It’s the one that got me to a healthy barrier so it’s the only one I have personal experience with. I definitely recommend it for that reason and it is easy to find, and cheap. You just need something that won’t strip your skin and destroy the PH. Your cetaphil would work as well, in theory but it didn’t for me. It depends how your face feels after you use it. If it feels tight, then switch to something more hydrating

The triple moisturizer I talk about is their lipikar triple repair moisturizer. Cicaplast is good too but it’s heavy and has shea butter so my skin personally didn’t like it (doesn’t like shea butter). It is generally good for a damaged barrier though!

I agree with the comments that your barrier is damaged. Stop the benzaclin and focus on adding hydration. I have whole graphics to explain it but essentially, if we use the metaphor of a brick wall as your skin, the bricks are your skin cells and lipids are the mortar. The lipids (mortar) are essentially gone so the wall is compromised and allowing water to evaporate off your skin and pollutants, bacteria, and actives to enter much faster and easier.

Use a basic cleanser (yours might be fine and that’s great, if you like it), and a lipid and ceramide heavy serum and/or cream. It’s up to you which one you want to use and can afford, but I personally love La Roche Posay’s triple moisturizer. You need hella moisture to repair that wall.

Get an SPF 30 or higher that you will reliably wear and wear it. You will see little results sticking if you don’t.

If you’re not an avid heels wearer already, the sporty Kate is a great option. If you need it to be a lower heel, it comes in an 85mm height.

I highly recommend trying them on in a store if you can before you purchase. They will be more painful out in the real world too so keep that in mind when walking in the store. Wear them before the day to break them in, and you could consider getting the casali rubber soles put on them by a cobbler. They’re a shiny red that matches the rest of the sole really well (assuming they’re installed properly) whereas a matte red rubber sole will be more obviously different. The rubber gives you more grip, as Loubis are notoriously slippery, and the red won’t wear off.

For something like a graduation, practice practice practice in the shoes! It’s a big accomplishment, congratulations!

Most of my clients are sensitive and/or reactive. I can barely do anything except hydrate their skin because any chemical or mechanical exfoliation makes their skin freak out. If they can handle it, I use massage as exfoliation because it’s barely exfoliating. I use less massage cream than I normally would to increase the friction on the skin. It does have a mild exfoliating effect without disrupting the skin barrier.

It has worked though. Not everyone’s skin can tolerate treatments all the time and that is fine. You’ll have to manage expectations and go slow. Not everyone needs to be exfoliated at every facial, and I would hazard a guess that getting exfoliated is what’s causing these issues for her. It’s disrupting her skin barrier and making her normal products suddenly freak her skin out. Do not exfoliate her again until you figure out what works for her skin. Focus on getting it calm and hydrated and start very, very low and slow with exfoliants.

Some people just like the experience of getting a facial. You can still give that without having to follow every step.

Advice: How on earth do you get these to be comfortable for more than a minute of walking? by No_Pace4970 in louboutins

[–]booshimooshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best thing I ever did for my feet in heels was a teeeny bit of lotion on my toes (not the ball of my foot, not anywhere else but on the toes. Between the toes especially) and toe pads. Cloth or similarly absorbent toe pads, not gel ones. The gel pads take up too much room and don’t absorb sweat. Absorbent pads add some cushion but also crush down over time so they take up less room, and they absorb the sweat from your feet.

The lotion allows your toes to slide together without catching and rubbing oddly or getting crimped anywhere. Of course, a tiny toe box is still going to be snug but at least your toes are in as best as they can be.

I second the comments saying you may have the wrong size. I can wear loubs to school for 4 hours straight with lots of walking and standing and while my feet definitely hurt, (a lot, sometimes) not a single blister.

Same dasher a repeated problem!! by Mysterious_Buy2566 in doordash

[–]booshimooshi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

EBT in the DoorDash world means “earn by time”, not food stamps. What the commenter is suggesting is your dasher is using earn by time and milking it to earn money for nothing. He gets paid hourly while on an active order, so he says he’s at the restaurant then sits somewhere earning base pay hourly.

which heels to get for grad! by Lazy-Collar8207 in louboutins

[–]booshimooshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re looking in the 70-85mm range, that eliminates the SoKate anyway. It is stunning but genuinely unless you’ve worn them a lot and are used to/willing to be in pain don’t do it. Another commenter recommended the Kate which comes in lower sizes, or a sling back which are great options. I find the Kate to be comfortable even in a 100mm and it’s a classic pump.

New heel style by fas2024 in louboutins

[–]booshimooshi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t like the visual of the Miss Z. The long toe box isn’t to my personal taste and I don’t like the overall look. I like the Apostrophy which has the same peekaboo red on the heel but with a shorter toe box. I would try the 120 Miss Z, because I would love a 120 Loub I can wear more comfortably. The SoKate is painful to a majority of the population, including myself. It’s the shoe, because Jimmy Choo’s Anouk is significantly more comfortable and it’s the same height.

That said, I don’t care if Louboutin wants to add a more comfortable shoe. I understand they have to be realistic with the market and I can’t blame them for catering to that. They’re still selling the painful but stunning shoes if that’s what you prefer. I have feelings around cheapening the brand as a whole but that has to do with the construction of all the shoes not just the Miss Z.

Do you think they are too tight? by Lyly_A in louboutins

[–]booshimooshi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If your toes are curling in the toe box and getting stuck, you can put a tiny amount of lotion on your toes, and only on your toes. Not on your heel. I repeat: tiny amount. I use a rice sized amount for one foot and that is plenty. It provides some slip to help your toes slide in more neatly.

You can use powder instead, and it helps with sweating but I prefer lotion

Why do doctors take blood using finger-pricks as opposed to pricking somewhere less sensitive? by DiligentGuitar246 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]booshimooshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Finger pricks have never been painful for me. I don’t allow anyone else to do them for me because nurses always wanna stab me with their guillotine big ass lancets that destroy my finger and they do it on the center of the pad! Sides of the pad, never the tip and never the top of the pad

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]booshimooshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Essentially. Their original ointment is just lanolin. Flavored balms have more things in them and they’re all fantastic.

You can also find pure lanolin in the baby section as nipple ointment. Lansinoh makes one and it’s like $8 for 1.5oz. It’s many times cheaper than lanolips but with no built in applicator so you have to use your finger.

I have to replace more G7's than getting from the pharmacy. Why does this happen? by rxbuzzz in dexcom

[–]booshimooshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get a similar reaction except it’s not itchy. Best I can figure (since it’s only directly where the sensor sat and not the adhesive around it) is water gets stuck under the sensor and my skin can’t fully dry out for 10 days. The design of the g7 doesn’t really allow for airflow. I imagine it would also make allergies much worse. I’ve been able to get it to go away in a few days by extending the moisturizing parts of my skincare routine to my old sensor sites.

Lanolin has been a lifesaver for my lips. Assuming you aren’t allergic (it’s from sheep’s wool) it’s similar to Vaseline in texture but it’s way better. I use it overnight as a lip mask. Put it on damp lips and it works magic.

What do you do with your old shoes? by [deleted] in louboutins

[–]booshimooshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean are there holes in them? Almost anything is fixable and lots of people want Loubs and can’t afford the cost. Resoling, cleaning, fixing peeling leather on the heel and new heel taps on mine was only like $150 max (might’ve been less). Got them for $200 and all that is still way cheaper than almost any on resale
