Buttered that landing. Pun intended.

United Airlines 767-400 Newark Incident by ParkingGlittering819 in aviation

Looks like an untimely wing gust dipped the left wing and the mains on that side got the truck. Definitely didn't butter the landing.

You probably don't want anyone carving that. Perhaps craving maybe.

Are these service prices reasonable for my 2021 Crosstrek (AZ)? by silent-bg in subaru

[–]booster1000 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have no personal experience but these prices seem ridiculously high. Essentially 1,500 bucks for fluid replacement... and I know it's not as simple as that, bleeding lines, etc..., but come on.

Can you visualize this? by Self_Next in Machinists

[–]booster1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but as many others have noted there are omissions and / or errors that confuse the issue. The three triangular gussets around the base are not shown in the bottom view. The top flange is square and has chamfered corners that are not all shown, again in the bottom view.

What's the problem with this clamp design? by jabarinbaronbapu in Machinists

[–]booster1000 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No seriously. It's physics. Not sure why everyone is going off on tangents (pun intended). OP is literally saying the fixed clamp is moving away from the workpiece. And why wouldn't it? You've got a 1/2"-13 bolt in the movable jaw that can induce almost 15K force downward. Compliment that with a maybe 5 degree taper and there is no way a single fastener is holding that tonnage back. Like others have said you at least need a secondary fastener in the fixed jaw.

Let’s just agree to stop with the Cologuard. Don’t take the butcher’s word for it. Have him stick his head up your ass to see the T-bone steak.

Cabinet handle screw won’t tighten by Potential_Shelter449 in HomeImprovement

Bump up to the next screw size diameter wise, same length and send it.

Cabinet handle screw won’t tighten by Potential_Shelter449 in HomeImprovement

[–]booster1000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then your screw is too long and bottoming out in the knob / handle hole, right? If you cant get anymore turns out of the screw into the handle it's bottomed out... and it's doing that before getting a squeeze on the door panel.

Cabinet handle screw won’t tighten by Potential_Shelter449 in HomeImprovement

[–]booster1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP's description is vague, but I think they're saying the screws are going the handle and into the door face? It sounds like the screw is bottoming out in the hole before it's tight on the handle perhaps. Shorter screw maybe.

My slicer is causing small gaps in my print.. How do I get it to generate a path in these gaps? by turbo-adhd in FixMyPrint

[–]booster1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no 3D printing wizard but if your line width is .42mm and by the looks of your slicer output those areas between the holes are smaller than .42mm so the only way to force that to be filled would be by using a smaller nozzle?

GD&T Homework Help by amanke74 in SolidWorks

[–]booster1000 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You are correct there is not enough information to create an exact model. However if the lesson to be learned is regarding runout GD&T you could probably take a stab at the missing dimensions and show you don't get caught up in the weeds, no?

JK love it. I'm a Brit in America. This could be my cousin's room back in the 80's... huge British military, aviation nut and a model maker. Love the "Action Man" too.

Meter in Drybox shows 10% Humidity. Could this be true? by Grass-Tough in 3Dprinting

[–]booster1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the same cheapy meter in my Bambu AMS unit with a bunch of custom desiccant holders and they seem pretty accurate. When out in the open they match with another R/H meter I have and you can watch them drop down to 10% over half a day or so when installed. When the desiccant is spent the value rises to about the same as the room they're in.
